Abstract: A method for transmitting messages from first units of an integrated circuit to at least one second unit of the integrated circuit. The first units generate first digital messages and transform them into second digital messages obtained by application of an orthogonal or quasi-orthogonal transformation to the first messages. The second messages of the first units are added up and transmitted to the second unit.
Abstract: Driving a light-emitting element by a driver capable of testing at least an open or short condition of the light-emitting element. In particular, a driving signal is generated to drive the light-emitting element. It is evaluated based on the value of the driving signal whether a predetermined condition is reached. If so, a latch signal is output indicating that the testing has finished.
Abstract: A current mirror circuit is provided with a first current mirror including first and second mirror transistors sharing a common control terminal; the first mirror transistor has a conduction terminal for receiving, during a first operating condition, a first reference current, and the second mirror transistor has a respective conduction terminal for providing, during the first operating condition, a mirrored current based on the first reference current. The current mirror circuit is provided with a switching stage operable to connect the control terminal to the conduction terminal of the first mirror transistor during the first operating condition, and to disconnect the control terminal from the same conduction terminal of the first mirror transistor, and either letting it substantially float or connecting it to a reference voltage, during a second operating condition, in particular a condition of stand-by.

Each portion is provided with at least one differential stage supplied by the first voltage reference and connected, by a transistor stage, to the second voltage reference, as well as a differential pair of cross-coupled transistors, supplied by output terminals of the differential stage and connected, by the transistor stage, to the second voltage reference. Advantageously, each master and slave portion includes a degeneration capacitance inserted in correspondence with respective terminals of the transistors of the differential pair.

Abstract: A phase change memory formed by a plurality of phase change memory devices having a chalcogenide memory region extending over an own heater. The heaters have all a relatively uniform height. The height uniformity is achieved by forming the heaters within pores in an insulator that includes an etch stop layer and a sacrificial layer. The sacrificial layer is removed through an etching process such as chemical mechanical planarization. Since the etch stop layer may be formed in a repeatable way and is common across all the devices on a wafer, considerable uniformity is achieved in heater height. Heater height uniformity results in more uniformity in programmed memory characteristics.

Abstract: This process for manufacturing a Schottky-barrier MOS transistor on a fully depleted semiconductor film may include depositing a first layer of a first sacrificial material on an active zone of the substrate, forming a silicon layer on top of the first layer of sacrificial material, forming a gate region on top of the silicon layer with interposition of a gate oxide layer, and selective etching of the sacrificial material so as to form a tunnel beneath the gate region. The tunnel is filled with a dielectric second sacrificial material. A controlled lateral etching of the second sacrificial material is performed so as to keep behind a zone of dielectric material beneath the gate region. Silicidation is performed at the location of the source region and drain region and at the location of the etched zone.
Abstract: An oscillator is described, comprising at least one transistor having a first terminal connected to a power supply voltage. Abstract: A method for communications between neighboring wireless cells such as wireless regional area networks operating according to IEEE 802.22 specifications. The method involves scheduling inter-base station communications for over-the-air connections to allow neighboring base stations to communicate in environments where a single available channel is shared between the neighboring cells or where two or more channels used by two or more neighboring cells. In some embodiments, a bridge system, such as a bridge consumer premise equipment (CPE), positioned in an area of coverage overlap between two cells is used for inter-base station communications, and allocation and scheduling of bandwidth on the utilized channels is performed to provide interference free communications between the base stations. Existence announcements are provided in coexistence time slots and requests for bandwidth such as reserved and additional time slots are transmitted between the base stations using the coexistence time slots.
Abstract: The system carries out conversion of digital video signals organized in blocks of pixels from a first format to a second format. The second format is a format compressed via vector quantization. The vector quantization is performed by means of repeated application of a scalar quantizer to the pixels of said blocks with a quantization step (Q) determined in an adaptive way according to the characteristics of sharpness and/or brightness of the pixels and representing said vector quantization in a n-dimensional space indicative of the characteristics on n of said pixels in the block partitioned into cells of size proportional to said quantization step, each cell being assigned to an appropriate binary code, wherein said process further includes identifying at least one symmetry element in said n-dimensional space suitable for separating at least two symmetrical set of cells, and selecting one of said at least two symmetrical set of cells for the assignment of said binary codes.
