  • Patent number: 8792858
Abstract: A method for adapting the security settings of a communication station (12) depending on a security relevant event is disclosed, wherein the communication station (12) comprises a mobile terminal (16) with an identification module (18). In a first step, the security relevant event occurring in said communication station and/or said mobile terminal (16) is identified in an event handler (26, 261, 262, 27) and stored in an event registry (28). In a second step, a security registry (30) in the identification module (18) is updated according to the identified event. In a third step, the security level of the communication station (12) and/or the mobile terminal (16) is adapted according to the security registry (30) of the identification module (18). The invention also relates to a communication station (12) and to an identification module (18).

  • Publication number: 20140198715
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for communication between moving objects (e.g., a train) and land-based systems (e.g., base stations of mobile wireless networks). For example, wireless communication may be established between a train and one or more base stations arranged along a track travelled by the train. In some instances, multiple-input and multiple-output arrays may be configured, comprising antennas of one or more communication relays arranged on the train, and the one or more base stations. Communications may be performed concurrently via multiple communication channels, such as channels of a MIMO arrays, using cooperative communication schemes for example. Channel state information (CSI) may be stored, remotely or locally, such as in a data storage system, and for communicating via the communication channel(s), channel state information may be determined, such as depending on information defining the current location of communication relays used in establishing the channels.

  • Patent number: 8774764
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method and a system for establishing a dynamic peer-to-peer communications channel between a first terminal and a second terminal. A first terminal and a second terminal are connectable over secured communications channels to a secured network. The first terminal sends a connection request for establishing a communications channel between the terminals. The connection request is intercepted and analyzed by an analyzer module. The analyzer modules requests network parameters from the first and the second terminals. Based on the intercepted connection request, and the network parameters of the terminals, the analyzer module instructs the terminal to establish a peer-to-peer communications channel over a network distinct from the secured network. Security of the peer-to-peer communications channel may be maintained by means of a central unit of the secured network. In this regard, the central unit may send to the terminal authentication keys and/or encryption keys.

  • Patent number: 8763019
Abstract: A method for data communication is provided and may include transmitting picture objects and/or video objects from a media center for display on a communications terminal. The media center may receive, from an eye tracker at the communications terminal, direction of view information (DoV) of at least one eye of a user of the terminal with respect to the displayed objects. The DoV may be determined by detecting a position of a pupil based on light reflected off of the pupil. Subsequent picture objects and/or video objects may be transmitted for display by the communications terminal based on user interests determined from the received DoV information. The DoV information may be determined using: a beam splitter, a lens, and a position sensing diode which receives light from the lens which has been received from the beam splitter, wherein the position sensing diode outputs a signal to the eye tracker.

  • Patent number: 8761395
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention relate to a method and systems operable or arranged to reduce detectability of an encryption key used in a communication network to encrypt messages transmitted between a base station and a mobile station over the air. One or more bits are determined in each case at random positions in the messages. Subsequently, random bit errors are generated in the messages in each case by inverting the bits prior to transmitting the message over the air. Introducing random bit errors into the messages corresponds to artificially lowering transmission quality, which makes it harder for an eavesdropper to detect the encryption key from well-known messages, while a legitimate receiver may correct the random bit errors by using conventional forward error correction features.

  • Patent number: 8755778
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed with which a communication user can access a communications service by way of a communications terminal. In this regard, the communications terminal reads an electronic code stored in an RFID element by means of an RFID reader device, and the electronic code is transmitted, after verification, to a service server over a communications network. The service server replies with the electronic page address of a page corresponding to the code and that can be used to determine the electronic address, the electronic address is made available to the communications terminal and said communications service is accessed.

  • Publication number: 20140057650
Abstract: A system and a method for determining a location area of a user using a mobile communication terminal in a geographical area covered by a mobile radio network, based on location probabilities for defined sub-areas of the geographical area. The location probabilities may be determined based on, e.g., field strengths expected in the sub-areas from antennas and based on the antenna used by the mobile communication terminal. The location probabilities may indicate, for a sub-area, the probability that the mobile communication terminal is located in the respective sub-area. At least one ellipse defining the location area may be determined, such as based on the location probabilities. The location probabilities may enable determining elliptical location areas of mobile users much smaller than the area each antenna does cover physically, but without the need for measuring at the mobile communication terminal signal properties such as signal strength or observed time differences.
