  • Patent number: 6786504
Abstract: The invention relates to a gas bag restraining device comprising a gas bag module which has a gas bag with a front wall upon which an occupant to be restrained can impact in a case of restraint. The front wall has a depression which is produced in that a center portion of the front wall is attached to the module and is prevented from moving when the gas bag is inflated. The gas bag restraining device further comprises a module cover closing a ring-shaped outlet opening of the gas bag module. The module cover has a central hole which is covered by a cap which is stationary during opening of said gas bag module. The module cover has an edge defining the central hole and opens, preferably tears, towards outside starting from the edge. • Patent number: 6786103
Abstract: The present invention relates to water meters for the installation in pipe lines of a nominal width-group and a method for operating such water meters, which operate according to the Woltmann principle. The present invention addresses the problem of avoiding the calibration expenditures for each of the nominal widths of the nominal width-group and the disadvantages entailed therein. The solution of this problem, stated generally, is that in the water meters at the relevant site, namely in the annular channel (16) directly in front of the impeller wheel (8), independently of the nominal width of the connected pipe line, a substantially rectangular velocity distribution (19) obtains with stream lines directed substantially parallel to the wall of the annular channel (16), with these flow conditions being substantially identical at identical throughflows.

  • Patent number: 6788027
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed to store electrical energy in, for example, a vehicle. In an example system, a storage module is provided including one or more capacitors, a sensor to measure the temperature of the capacitor(s), and a control device that controls the voltage at the capacitor(s) so that the maximum voltage at the storage module and/or the individual capacitor(s) increases as the temperature decreases. The aging of the capacitor(s) and in particular electrochemical capacitors strongly depends on the temperature in addition to the operating voltage. Controlling the capacitor voltage based on temperature can, therefore, substantially reduce the aging of the capacitor(s).

  • Patent number: 6786607
Abstract: In an arrangement for storing and transporting at least one optical component, it is the object of the invention to protect the optical components from contamination not only during their storage and transport, but also when installing them in operative condition in the optical projection beam path so as to ensure their readiness for immediate operation. This object is met in that every optical component is fastened in an aligned manner to a carrier that is provided in a vessel, and a manipulator acts on the carrier to transfer the carrier into an optical beam path enclosed by a cleanroom through an airlock opening which is formed when the vessel door is open. The arrangement can be used particularly when optics must be stored and manipulated so as to be protected from environmental influences.

Abstract: The arrangement comprises an endpiece (4), a temple (2), and a hinge for spectacles, said hinge joining the endpiece and the temple in an articulated manner such that the temple is pivotable relative to the endpiece between a position of non-use and a position of use. The temple has a free front surface on its end portion (14) adjacent to the endpiece, and the endpiece has an abutment surface on its end portion (26) adjacent to the temple. The surfaces abut on each other when the temple takes up its position of use, thereby preventing a pivoting movement of the temple beyond the position of use. The hinge is formed by an flexible tape (8) fastened with its one end (34) to the end portion of the temple and, with its other end (36), to the end portion of the endpiece, and extending from the inner side of the temple to the inner side of the endpiece. The temple, the endpiece, and the tape are manufactured in one piece by injection molding of an injection-moldable plastic material.
