  • Patent number: 7195688
Abstract: A process and device for manufacturing a primary unit pack of a wafer. A laminate comprising a carrier sheet and an active substance film is cross-cut at a predetermined length, detached from the carrier sheet, guided between two packaging material webs and, conveyed to a sealing station along with the packaging material webs. The packaging material webs are sealed to form a bag that is separated from the webs. The process includes detaching the carrier sheet from the active substance film, pulling the carrier sheet forward over the predetermined length of the wafer, simultaneously guiding the active substance film, which has been detached from the carrier sheet, without mechanical stress, the front end being between the packaging material webs which are in a resting condition, and is received and fixed by packaging material webs and transversely cut to form a wafer.

  • Patent number: 7188834
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for grouping a multitude of film-like or sheet-like materials, which are stacked in a magazine (20) and which consist of at least one material layer, using at least one suction apparatus (42), which suctions the film-like or sheet-like materials in a clocked matter while removing them from the magazine, whereby one film-like or sheet-like material at a time directly rests with a portion of its surface that forms a contact surface against the suction device. To this end, one portion of the magazine contents consists of gas-impermeable film-like or sheet-like materials whereas another portion contains film-like or sheet-like materials that are each provided with at least one gas-permeable zone. The invention develops a method for grouping film-like or sheet-like materials during which a number of film-like or sheet-like materials can be grouped without impairing the speed of subsequent processing.

  • Patent number: 7175853
Abstract: This invention provides for a therapeutic system for timed and controlled release of at least one therapeutic active agent to a human or animal organism by diffusion through the skin or mucous membrane. The active agent is initially present, for the purposes of manufacture and storage, in a first state in the form of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, which is chemically stable and insufficiently permeable for the skin or mucous membrane. The active agent is converted at the application site upon access of moisture and by an activating agent into a second state, which is suitable for diffusion through the skin or mucous membrane and in which it is taken up by the organism. The activating agent is initially present as a solid substance or a mixture or a plurality of such substances, which reacts in aqueous solution as an acid or base. The activating agent contains a portion of water of at least 5% in its solid body structure, either intercalated or bound thereto.

  • Patent number: 7175172
Abstract: A process for introducing a plurality of segregated sheet-like administration forms into a dispenser under formation of a multilayered stack for individually dosable removal, with sheet-like tapes wound-up on rolls being present as starting material, utilizes the following steps. In a first step, a number of sheet-like layers of said tapes, which number corresponds to the stack, is simultaneously drawn from a plurality of rolls. In a further step, the individual tapes are united, using guide means, to form a multilayered strand, which in yet another step, is drawn forward to a cutting station where one length of stack is severed at a time, and wherein a length segment of the multilayered strand corresponding to the stack is substantially in the dispenser prior to being severed from a remainder of the multilayered strand by the cutting device.

  • Patent number: 7146216
Abstract: A muscle stimulation device has a control unit (1) that determines frequency and/or intensity of electrical impulses in dependence upon the degree of stomach filling. The impulses function to stimulate lower esophageal sphincter (11) by means of stimulating electrodes (5a, 5b, 5c) disposed radially around the sphincter (11). A computer program, executable by means of a microprocessor (10), is installed in the control unit, the program designed such that a higher stomach filling degree causes a stronger stimulation of the sphincter (11) or its substitute. The sphincter reacts to the stimulation by exerting a corresponding pressure onto a lower esophagus area (12). An increased risk of gastric reflux as a consequence of the patient's substantial food ingestion is countered by an increased stimulation of the sphincter, which in turn causes an elevated closing pressure at the lower esophagus (12).
