Abstract: An apparatus for optically pumping a laser-active solid body with pumping light coupled into the solid body through an end surface of the solid body is disclosed. The apparatus includes a laser-active solid body including an end surface though which pumping light is coupled into the solid body and a lateral surface through which pumping light exits the solid body, a reflector surrounding the laser-active solid body at a distance from the lateral surface of the solid body for reflecting light that exists the solid body back towards the solid body, and a surface for diffusing light that is coupled into the solid body through the end surface of the solid body and that exits the solid body through the lateral surface. The surface is selected from the group consisting of the lateral surface and a surface of the reflector.

Abstract: A method for the hot-stamping a plurality of parts for stamping comprises operatively engaging a surface of at least one printing plate and a surface of a part for stamping in a stamping plane. The method further comprises providing a material which is to be stamped on between the printing plate and the part for stamping in such a manner that, during the operative engagement, the material which is to be stamped on is stamped onto the part for stamping. A stamping force for the stamping acts in a stamping direction approximately perpendicular to the stamping plane. The method further comprises simultaneously moving the surface of the printing plate and surfaces of the parts for stamping relative to each other into and out again from the stamping plane on defined, uniform paths of movement, said paths of movement intersecting a stamping axis during the stamping operation.
Abstract: Depending on the actual operating situation and the composition of the fuels used for driving the internal combustion engine, contamination of the moving blades, of the guide device and of the turbine casing parts occurs sooner or later in the exhaust gas turbine. According to the invention, a small quantity of cleaning fluid is fed continuously or cyclically into the exhaust gas flow of an exhaust gas turbine and is directed onto the components to be cleaned. The small quantity of cleaning fluid can be fed in with unchanged operation of the internal combustion engine, such that the exhaust gas turbine can be cleaned or kept clean within the entire operating range of the internal combustion engine. Fluctuations in the power output of the internal combustion engine on account of requisite cleaning of the exhaust gas turbine therefore do not occur. Furthermore, the formation of thermostress cracks in the critical turbine casing parts is largely avoided.
Abstract: A transdermal therapeutic system (TTS) comprises a silicone-based polymer adhesive system having distributed therein (?)-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-6-[propyl-[2-(2-thienyl)ethyl]amino]-1-naphthalenol free base in an amount of about 5% to 40% by weight. The adhesive system comprises a silicone adhesive and an additive having increased solubility for the active substance, in an amount effective to increase dissolving capacity of the matrix for the active substance.

Abstract: A transdermal therapeutic system (TTS), in particular a patch, is described, comprising: a detachable protective layer; a pressure-sensitive adhesive reservoir layer; and a backing layer with or without a coating of pressure-sensitive adhesive and featuring a unidirectionally, preferably longitudinally, elastic material having an elasticity of at least 20%. The TTS is particularly suitable for use as a multi-day plaster for the treatment of, for instance, pain or drug dependency.
Abstract: A tube-like reflector insert for a sensor is located in a rigid, light-absorbing sleeve that is closed on one side, and forms a two-part reflector body with the sleeve. A nut is glued onto the open side of the sleeve to enclose the reflector insert. The intravasal part of the sensor is guided in a protective tube having connector threads glued on on both sides. This protective tube is screwed onto the Y connector piece and the reflector sleeve with the nuts. The tip of the sensor is inserted with slight play into the sensor cavity of the reflector insert. The play ensures that sterilization gas can reach all of the intravasal surfaces. The reflector is attached to the sensor via a screw connection outside of the intravasal region, which ensures that the intravasal sensor part is not exposed to clamping stress. Free access for sterilization gas is possible at all intravasal surfaces of the sensor.
Abstract: By means of a pre-swirl device, in steady-state engine operation, the rotational speed lines of the compressor are moved, by increasing the swirl at the compressor inlet in the rotational direction of the compressor, to such an extent that the steady-state operating point of the compressor comes to rest approximately at the absorption limit of the compressor. In this way, the level of the charge pressure can be adjusted in a controlled fashion to the value required for the respective engine operating point. In the event of a sudden increase in the engine load, it is possible by resetting the pre-swirl grate to generate a charge pressure increase without a time-consuming rotor acceleration. The pre-swirl device therefore simultaneously assumes the functions of charge pressure and engine load control.

Abstract: The invention relates to a wind turbine comprising a machine housing (12) equipped with a rotor (14), which is mounted to pivot on a sub-structure (10). Wind parameters and an electromechanical quantity are determined by means of measuring devices (21, 22, 23). To enable the machine housing (12) to track the wind, the wind turbine is equipped with a pivoting device (11) comprising a controller (8). The wind turbine is also equipped with a calibration module (2), which is configured to determine an effective mass of the electromechanical quantity using the wind speed. In addition, the turbine comprises an evaluation device (4) comprising a classifier (40), which is used to form a first average value for a first class, for which the wind direction is positive and a second average value for a second class, for which the wind direction is negative. A difference is determined by means of a comparator and a calibration signal is emitted to the controller (8) of the pivoting device (11).
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a product from strip tape starting from a broad web of material includes the step of separating the web into individual strips with a smooth stripping roll, conveying each strip in a vacuum conveyor channel, turning the strips on their way to the channel or in the channel by about 90°, leading the strips together at the end of the channel one upon the other and thereafter processing the strips to form the final product.
