Abstract: A novel process of preparing tridentate ligands containing a diarylphosphine electron donating group are disclosed. Use of this process for preparing a combinatorial library of such tridentate ligands and of organometallic complexes containing same is also disclosed. Further disclosed are novel diarylphosphine-containing compounds that can serve as tridentate ligands (e.g., pincer ligands), combinatorial libraries of such tridentate ligands, organometallic complexes containing these ligands (e.g., pincer complexes), and combinatorial libraries of such complexes. Methods utilizing these libraries for screening for candidate organometallic catalysts are also disclosed.

Abstract: Well-defined, xeno-free culture media which comprise a TGF-beta isoform or the chimera formed between IL6 and the soluble IL6 receptor (IL6RIL6), which are capable of maintaining stem cells, and particularly, human embryonic stem cells, in an undifferentiated state are provided. Abstract: A device for ex situ magnetic resonance analysis is disclosed. The device comprises a static magnetic field unit (12) for generating a generally cylindrically symmetric static magnetic field outside the static magnetic field unit, and a radiofrequency unit (14) for generating a generally cylindrically symmetric radiofrequency field outside the radiofrequency unit. Abstract: A method for generating induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells from isolated hair follicles is disclosed. The method comprises: a. culturing isolated hair follicle keratinocytes on a layer of feeder cells, so as to generate colonies of hair follicle keratinocytes; b. detaching the colonies of hair follicle keratinocytes from the feeder cells so as to generate detached keratinocytes; c. infecting the detached keratinocytes with a virus comprising a nucleic acid molecule encoding at least one dedifferentiation factor so as to generated infected keratinocytes; and d. culturing the infected keratinocytes on a layer of feeder cells in a culture medium until iPS cells are formed, thereby generating iPS cells.
