  • Patent number: 9507404
Abstract: A microprocessor includes a plurality of cores, a shared cache memory, and a control unit that individually puts each core to sleep by stopping its clock signal. Each core executes a sleep instruction and responsively makes a respective request of the control unit to put the core to sleep, which the control unit responsively does, and detects when all the cores have made the respective request and responsively wakes up only the last requesting cores. The last core writes back and invalidates the shared cache memory and indicates it has been invalidated and makes a request to the control unit to put the last core back to sleep. The control unit puts the last core back to sleep and continuously keeps the other cores asleep while the last core writes back and invalidates the shared cache memory, indicates the shared cache memory was invalidated, and is put back to sleep.

  • Patent number: 9507977
Abstract: A host and a communicatively linked paired tag can be identified. The tag can be associated with a tracked entity. The tag can be a low power computing device which can provide a location of a tracked entity to the host. An out of range condition can be detected. The condition can result in communication between the host and the tag being temporarily interrupted. A last location of the tag can be established. A set of hosts proximate to the last location can be determined. The set of hosts can be queried to determine if the hosts have received an advertisement message from the tag. Each of the set of hosts can be linked to a different paired tag. A notification can be conveyed to the host when the set of hosts receives the message from the paired tag. The notification can include a new location of the paired tag.

  • Patent number: 9507942
Abstract: An apparatus including a ROM and a microprocessor. The ROM includes BIOS contents that are stored as plaintext and an encrypted digest. The encrypted digest includes an encrypted version of a first digest corresponding to the BIOS contents. The microprocessor is coupled to the BIOS ROM, and includes a tamper timer and a tamper detector. The tamper timer periodically generates an interrupt at a prescribed interval. The tamper detector accesses the BIOS contents and the encrypted digest upon assertion of the interrupt, and directs the microprocessor to generate a second digest corresponding to the BIOS contents and a decrypted digest corresponding to the encrypted digest using the same algorithms and key that were employed to generate the first digest and the encrypted digest, and compares the second digest with the decrypted digest, and precludes operation of the microprocessor if the second digest and the decrypted digest are not equal.

  • Patent number: 9506744
Abstract: A method of combining 2D images into a 3D image includes providing a coordinate measurement device and a triangulation scanner having an integral camera associated therewith, the scanner being separate from the coordinate measurement device. In a first instance, the coordinate measurement device determines the position and orientation of the scanner and the integral camera captures a first 2D image. In a second instance, the scanner is moved, the coordinate measurement device determines the position and orientation of the scanner, and the integral camera captures a second 2D image. A cardinal point common to the first and second images is found and is used, together with the first and second images and the positions and orientations of the scanner in the first and second instances, to create the 3D image.

  • Publication number: 20160343448
Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting a command execution abort are disclosed. Power failure may abort the writing of data in a memory device prematurely, resulting in potential data corruption. A memory device controller in the memory device sends commands, such as write or erase commands, to one or more memory integrated circuit chips. Along with executing the commands, the memory integrated circuit chips track execution of the commands by storing the address at which the command is being executed along with flag(s) indicative of the progress executing the command (e.g., command has begun and/or completed execution). When a power failure occurs, the memory device controller may poll the memory integrated circuit chips for the address/flags information to determine whether (or where) the command abort occurred. Thus, relying on the address/flag(s), the memory device controller may more quickly or easily determine whether a command abort has occurred.

  • Publication number: 20160343454
Abstract: A non-volatile storage system includes a three dimensional structure comprising vertical columns of memory cells and a managing circuit in communication with the vertical columns The managing circuit applies one or more patterns of stress voltages to the vertical columns, with different voltages applied to each vertical column of pairs of adjacent vertical columns being tested for shorts. The managing circuit tests for a short in the pairs of adjacent vertical columns after applying the one or more patterns of stress voltages. In one embodiment, the test may comprise programming a memory cell in each vertical column with data that matches the pattern of stress voltages, reading from the memory cells and determining whether data read matches data programmed. The applying of the stress voltages and the testing can be performed as part of a test during manufacturing or in the field during user operation.
