Abstract: Systems and methods for calculating and presenting confidence interval(s) for key performance indicator(s) (KPIs) are described. For example, in some embodiments, a method may include identifying vectors representing network events observed by a network monitoring system, each vector including: a dimension, an indication of a sampling ratio with which a respective event was observed, and a value associated with the dimension. The method may also include calculating a KPI corresponding to the observed events for the dimension based, at least in part, upon the values. The method may further include calculating a confidence associated with the KPI, based, at least in part, upon the sampling ratios. In some cases, events may be observed with different sampling ratios. Additionally or alternatively, sampling ratios may include adaptive sampling ratios controlled by the network monitoring system in response to network or resource loading (e.g.

Abstract: Waveforms generators include a splitter that splits a digital input signal into a number of split signals each having a split signal frequency bandwidth that is substantially similar to a digital input signal frequency bandwidth. The split signals are mixed with associated digital, harmonic signals to generate a number of digital, mixed signals, which are then converted to analog signals at an effective sample rate that is different from a first order harmonic signal of at least one of the digital, harmonic mixers. A number of analog, harmonic mixers mix the associated analog signals with associated analog, harmonic signals to generate mixed, analog signals. The mixed, analog signals are combined into an output signal having an output signal bandwidth that is greater than a bandwidth of at least one of the number of DACs.
Abstract: The techniques for resolving asynchronous clock times include determining at least a high resolution time period and a low resolution time period for a clock of a first time domain, generating a plurality of sequenced transition signals for the high resolution time period where each sequenced transition signal corresponds to a respective bit transition period of the high resolution clock of the first time domain, encoding the plurality of sequenced transition signals for the high resolution time period into a high resolution vector, and encoding the low resolution time period into a low resolution vector.
Abstract: A method for providing a handset recommendation to subscribers in a mobile telecommunication network includes receiving information related to a subscriber's utilization of a handset. A recommended handset for the subscriber is identified based on the subscriber's handset utilization and historical handset migration information. A recommendation is presented to a subscriber.
Abstract: A method and system for providing information related to a social rank of a subscriber in a telecommunication network in which information is collected related to one or more subscribers from the telecommunication network. A direct relationship is determined between a subscriber and a first plurality of subscribers in the telecommunication network and an indirect relationship is determined between the subscriber and a second plurality of subscribers in the telecommunication network, wherein the subscriber and the second plurality of subscribers are members of the same social network. A social rank indicator is then generated corresponding to the subscriber based on the direct relationship between the subscriber and the first plurality of subscribers and based on the indirect relationship between the subscriber and the second plurality of subscribers.
Abstract: Systems and methods for identifying communication devices in telecommunication networks are described. In some embodiments, a method may include performing, by a telecommunications monitoring system, determining occurrence of a device software upgrade on a device operating in a telecommunications network controlled at least in part by a telecommunications operator. Determining occurrence of performance degradation on either a device or the telecommunications network attributable to the determined occurrence of a device software upgrade. Initiating proactive actions to thwart further deployment of the device software upgrade determined to affect performance degradation on either a device or the telecommunications system.
Abstract: A test and measurement apparatus, system, and method for synchronizing an acquisition or triggering system to a specific burst of interest. The subject apparatus and method triggers on varying energy content of a signal qualified by time in the presence of high-frequency input signal bursts, by using an adjustable pulse width envelope detector, disposed in the signal path of the trigger circuitry, as a digital rectifier or to otherwise process and extract an envelope signal. An RF envelope probe having an analog envelope detector among other suitable components is disclosed. A method is implemented for isolating an interval of interest in a signal under test. An envelope detector circuit produces an envelope signal from the signal. Trigger circuitry receives the envelope signal from the envelope detector, and isolates the interval of interesting in the signal under test using the envelope signal.

Abstract: An subscriber location device for determining location information for User Equipment (UE) in a communication network monitors a network interface between a Mobility Management Entity node and an Evolved Serving Mobile Location Center (E-SMLC) node, receive location information from network interface between the MME node and the E-SMLC node, associates the received location information with corresponding UE to yield associated location information and stores the associated location information in a subscriber location database, indexed according to the UE.
Abstract: A monitoring system is coupled to interfaces in an LTE network and passively captures packets from the network interfaces. First data packets associated with an authentication and key agreement procedure are captured on a first interface. Second data packets associated with the authentication and key agreement procedure are captured on a second interface. Individual ones of the first data packets are correlated to individual ones of the second data packets based upon a same parameter. An authentication vector table is created comprising information from the correlated first data packets and second data packets, wherein entries in the table comprise authentication data for a plurality of security contexts. A cipher key is identified to decipher additional packets for the user. The cipher key can also be identified in case of Inter Radio Access Technology Handover by the user equipment.
Abstract: Tiling or blockiness detection based on spectral power signature uses one-dimensional vectors at block edges to find a spectral signature created by the tiling or blockiness in an image. A baseband component of the image, such as luminance, is edge enhanced, and then the pixel values along each horizontal line are summed to form a one-dimensional column vector of summed edge values for the image. The power of the column vector and the power of selected frequency components within the column vector are determined. The powers are then combined and converted to dimensionless tiling or blockiness values relative to each of the selected frequencies.

Abstract: A method for emulating a jitter buffer by a telecommunications network monitoring probe includes determining an RTP timestamp for each of the plurality of received RTP packets. An actual time of arrival is determined for each of the plurality of RTP packets. An expected time of arrival is determined for each of the plurality of RTP packets based, at least in part, upon a difference between the RTP timestamps of successive RTP packets. One or more of the plurality of RTP packets is discarded from the jitter buffer if the actual time of arrival is greater than the expected time of arrival for the one or more RTP packets.
