Abstract: Process aimed at the extraction of electrical signals emanating from the two ends of a two wire link between two installations exchanging data, wherein a probe comprising an attenuation cell is plugged in on either side of a break point situated on the line pair, then the connections thus established are isolated in such a way as to transfer the signals to the attenuation cell, the attenuation cell is activated by progressive withdrawal of active components, high-impedance signals are tapped off at the two ends of the attenuation cell, and signals which are images of the electrical signals dispatched by one or other of the ends of the line pair are obtained as output from the attenuation cell, after analogue calculation based on subtraction of the signals and multiplication by a constant which is directly related to the value of the attenuation of the cell.

Abstract: A device is presented for processing digital signals conveyed between a common port and many particular ports. The device includes a linear processing module. The module includes filters, which simultaneously apply a phase-shift and a chosen amplitude emphasis at each of the particular ports. The phase-shift is specific to each particular port, and the amplitude emphasis is substantially the same for all the particular ports. At the common port, the device also includes a common inversion filter, which performs inverse amplitude emphasis to the chosen amplitude emphasis.

The modules are connected to the data bus and each one of the modules is in communication with each one of the other modules via at least one control line such that each one of the modules is capable of receiving control signals generated by each other module. Arbitration logic assigns bus mastery to one of the modules.
Abstract: A method for assigning a channel in multi-FA CDMA mobile communication system according to the received power prevents communication quality of a FA from being inferior to that of the others by managing the interference level of the FA. The method. comprises the steps of: comparing a first threshold value with received power when the base station receives a new call request; assigning a traffic channel in a first FA of the request, if the received power is less than the first threshold value, and searching a second FA of which received power is least, if not; comparing a second threshold value with the received power of the second FA; and assigning a traffic channel in the second FA if the received power is less than the second threshold value, and rejecting the request, if not.

Abstract: An optoelectronic system comprising at least three sections corresponding to specific respective functions and having different respective band gap energies, at least for the adjacent pairs of sections. These three sections consist of at least two layers superposed by epitaxy. The upper layer is etched in order to define said sections in the form of two separate end sections defined in the upper layer on each side of an intermediate section defined in the lower layer, and to allow coupling between the intermediate section and each of the end sections which flank it, by evanescent coupling. The length of the intermediate section is such that the product K×L, in which K represents the coupling coefficient of a grating of the intermediate section, is one of the order of 1.
Abstract: The method of random access comprises the selecting (112; 140) of an available uplink access slot; the transmission (136) of a preamble with a commanded power (CPP); the evaluation (138, 162) of the satisfaction of a send authorization criterion (AI) following the transmission of said preamble; and the transmission (164) of a message part when said send authorization criterion (AI) is satisfied.
Abstract: Data on customer's purchase history stored in a database server is searched and edited by using an ID number inputted by a customer. A customer class, a customer rank, a discount rate, and the like are displayed on a personal computer of an operator who responds to the customer that calls a call center.
Abstract: A telecommunications system including an at least partially digital telephone link having an analog end portion, first and second modems disposed along the link, and analog/digital devices disposed along the link intermediate the modems which are operative to support communications between the first and second modems substantially at bit rates in excess of 28.8 Kbps.
Abstract: An optical transmission system comprising a plurality of telecommunication channels, characterized in that when a failure occurs in one or more of said telecommunication channels, a continuous operation of the non-failing telecommunication channels is enabled, provided that the overall transmitted energy in said non-failing telecommunication channels exceeds a pre-defined threshold.
Abstract: A method, a system and a module are proposed for detecting and locating faults in an optical multi channel network composed of network nodes. The method includes assigning different sub-carrier pilot tones to a number of the nodes comprising Network Elements (NE), applying the different sub-carrier pilot tones to any signal added to the network via the respective nodes, checking presence of one or more of the sub-carrier pilot tones at one or more points of the network, and, based on results of the checking, locating a faulty section of the network in case a fault occurred.
Abstract: A method for compression of signaling information in a telecommunication network, the method comprising the steps of a) providing a transmission link for transmitting a transmission including signaling information from a transmitting end of the transmission to its receiving end, b) at the transmitting end, suppressing the transmission of at least some of the signaling information in accordance with a prevailing compression scheme; and c) at the receiving end, regenerating the signaling information suppressed at the transmitting end.
Abstract: A stream of incoming digital signals (Ia) is split (10) into a plurality of derived streams (Ib) that are sent over respective transmission links (R). The derived streams transmitted in this way (Ic) are then bundled again (20) to form a stream of outgoing digital signals (Id). At the transmission end, symbols are inserted into the derived streams (Ib) simultaneously and at constant intervals (T), in order to subdivide the transmitted information into packets of equal duration and aligned in time when being transmitted. At the reception end, the above symbols associated to the transmitted derived streams (Ic) are generally time-shifted as a consequence of the transmission over the various transmission links (R). At the reception end (20) the time alignment of the above symbols is recovered so as to recover the time alignment of the various transmitted derived streams (Ic), so that the subsequent bundling can take place on the streams correctly time-aligned.
Abstract: A micro-electronic component for a portable object is of the type which incorporates digital processing means, and an interface for contact-free electromagnetic coupling with a remote station. The digital processing means can operate according to an operating mode of the request/acknowledgement type, which is substantially insensitive to the propagation time, without a global, regular clock. The component additionally comprises adapter means, which can adapt the signals of the contact-free interface to the signals of the digital processing means and vice versa, in order to permit two-way dialogue with the remote station.
