Abstract: The present disclosure provides a bandpass filter based on effective localized surface plasmons (ELSPs) and an operation method thereof. The bandpass filter includes a metal ground plane on a lower portion and a dielectric substrate in a middle as well as microstrips and dielectric resonators on an upper portion, where the microstrips at two terminals are symmetric with each other; each dielectric resonator includes a cuboid dielectric body and two metal strips, where the two metal strips each the same as the cuboid dielectric body in length are respectively located in a middle of an upper surface and lower surface of the dielectric body; and two microstrips are respectively connected to the metal strips on lower surfaces of two dielectric resonators, so as to be used as ports for feeding.

Abstract: A wave energy collection and conversion system that uses a compliant capture mechanism to enable the collection of wave energy over extensive distances without introducing damaging forces onto the collection structure. The system includes a flexible membrane in contact with or submerged under water, a plurality of power generation devices positioned on a sea floor, and lines that connect the flexible membrane to the power generation devices. The power generation devices each include a self-reeling mechanism and a turbine. As wave energy pushes the flexible membrane, the lines are reeled into and out of the corresponding power generation device(s). Rotation of the shaft, in turn, rotates a gear and rotator of the turbine, thus harnessing energy derived from the wave motion.

Abstract: Disclosed are a honeycomb-like homo-type heterojunction carbon nitride composite material and a preparation method thereof, and an application of the honeycomb-like homo-type heterojunction carbon nitride composite material in catalytic treatment of waste gas. The preparation method includes the following steps: with two different carbon nitride precursors namely urea and thiourea as raw materials, weighing certain amounts of the urea and the thiourea, adding the urea and the thiourea into a crucible, adding a certain amount of ultrapure water, placing the crucible in a muffle furnace, and carrying out calcination molding. The honeycomb-like homo-type heterojunction carbon nitride prepared by the one-step method has good photocatalytic effect to catalytic degradation of NO; meanwhile, the honeycomb-like homo-type heterojunction carbon nitride composite material has the advantages of rich and easily-available production raw materials, good stability, reusability, etc.
Abstract: A motor control apparatus according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a current controller for generating a voltage command signal on the basis of a torque command for driving a motor and a fundamental wave current of the motor; a high frequency voltage generator for generating a high frequency voltage signal for injection into the voltage command signal; an inverter for applying a voltage to the motor on the basis of the voltage command signal and the high frequency voltage signal; an angle estimator for generating an estimated angle of a rotor of the motor on an estimated coordinate system on the basis of a current signal of the motor; and a compensator for adding a first compensation signal (icomp) to the current signal (isig), wherein the first compensation signal (icomp) may be related to the torque command and the estimated angle.

It involves providing a first microbiota sample that was obtained from a given source; exposing the first microbiota sample to an isotope enriched medium; and culturing the exposed first microbiota sample in the isotope enriched medium to obtain an isotope-labelled microbiota sample, wherein the isotope labelled metaproteome of the isotope-labelled microbiota sample is taxon specific for taxa present in the first microbiota sample when initially obtained from the given source.

Abstract: Carbon dioxide and ash are two major waste by-products from coal fire production. Presented herein is are methods, material, and devices for storing carbon using high ash-content building material. The idea is to generate materials with commercial values to offset the cost for carbon capture. Ash with alkali activator (geopolymer) concrete has been studied extensively for its superior performance (higher strength) than ordinary Portland cement (OPC) concrete. However, most geopolymer concrete needs energy input in the forms of pressure and heat, which in turn are usually based on electricity produced through power plants.

Abstract: The frost-resistant assembled initial support structure of the tunnel for supporting a surrounding rock includes a bearing layer, an elastic compressible structure and an inflatable airbag. A gap space is formed between the bearing layer and the surrounding rock, and the inflatable airbag and the elastic compressible structure are provided in the gap space; and the inflatable airbag after being inflated and the elastic compressible structure jointly fill up the gap space. A construction method includes providing the bearing layer in the tunnel, and forming the gap space between the bearing layer and the surrounding rock; providing the inflatable airbag and the elastic compressible structure in the gap space; and inflating the inflatable airbag and filling up the gap space with the inflatable airbag and the elastic compressible structure.
Abstract: A single-phase hybrid multilevel inverter capable of producing a higher number of output voltage levels using fewer power switches and DC voltage sources compared to existing multilevel inverters. The levels are synthesized by switching the DC voltage sources in series/parallel combinations. An auxiliary circuit is introduced to double the number of levels by creating an intermediate step in between two levels. In addition, a zero level is introduced to overcome the inherent absence of this level in the original circuit. To improve the total harmonic distortion, a hybrid modulation technique is utilized. A 300 W, a thirteen level multilevel inverter (including the zero level) was designed and constructed. The circuit was tested with a no-load, resistive load and resistive-inductive load. The experimental results closely match simulated and mathematical analyses.
Abstract: The present invention belongs to the technical fields of novel structure design and lattice material design, and refers to structures, lattice materials, and lattice cylindrical shells with simultaneous stretch- and compression-expanding property. First, use the local tension-compression asymmetry in the tension modulus and compression modulus generated by the contact nonlinearity of the tension springs to construct a type of 2D structures and lattice materials with stretch- and compression-expanding property. Then by assembling the 2D structures in different directions, 3D structures and lattice materials can be constructed. Meanwhile, a lattice cylindrical shell can also be constructed by using the 2D stretch- and compression-expanding structures as the unit cell.
Abstract: A silicon solar cell with high photoelectric conversion efficiency is disclosed. A solar cell for converting light incident from an outside into electricity according to the present invention includes a substrate, a lower electrode, a ferroelectric layer, an auxiliary electrode, a first conductivity-type semiconductor layer, a second conductivity-type semiconductor layer, and an upper electrode. The lower electrode is formed on the substrate. The ferroelectric layer is formed on the substrate and outside the lower electrode. The auxiliary electrode is formed on the ferroelectric layer. The first conductivity-type semiconductor layer is formed on the lower electrode and the auxiliary electrode. The second conductivity-type semiconductor layer is formed on the first conductivity-type semiconductor layer, and is composed of a semiconductor of a second conductivity type opposite to a first conductivity type.

Abstract: Systems and methods of operating a lower limb device having at least a powered joint are provided. A method includes configuring the device to a first state in a finite state model for a current activity mode including a stair ascent mode or a stair descent mode. The method also includes, based on real-time sensor information, transitioning the device between different states in the finite state model when pre-defined criteria for transitioning among the different states are met. In the method, the finite state model for stair ascent includes lifting and swing phases, where the lifting phase includes a powered knee extension and a powered ankle push-off. The finite state model for stair descent includes yielding and swing states, where the swing states include providing a powered plantarflexion of the powered ankle joint and the yielding states include providing a resistive and passive plantarflexion of the powered ankle joint.

The soft segment comprises (a) at least 2% by weight of the soft segment of at least one polyether macrodiol, and/or at least one polycarbonate macrodiol; and (b) at least 2% by weight of the soft segment of at least one polyisobutylene macrodiol and/or diamine.
