Abstract: This inventon relates to flame-retarded cross-linked elastomer compositions obtained from an elastomeric polyurethane prepolymer; an organic fire-retardant additive containing chlorine and/or bromine; a compound of antimony; and a hexaalkoxymethyl melamine. These new compositions are self-extinguishing as well as non-dripping.
Abstract: A dripless, fire-retarded, polyurethane elastomer comprising a blend of the elastomer with a hexaalkoxymethylmelamine, a trihydrocarbylcarbonylmelamine and compounds selected from the group comprising (1) aromatic bismaleimide or (2) an aromatic bismaleimide generator.

Abstract: Painted exterior automotive body parts made of blends of EPM or EPDM type elastomers with highly unsaturated rubbers, vulcanized to provide vulcanizates having high flexural modulus (from 7,000 to 45,000 psi), using high sulfur levels (6 to 12 parts per 100 parts by weight of elastomers).

Abstract: Adhesive-coated tire cord fabric and similar fabric and single end cords for other end uses can be protected from the adverse effects of exposure to the products of combustion present in fuel oil- or kerosene-fired dryers and curing ovens as well as to atmospheric oxidation, prior to the adhesion of such fabrics to rubber, by incorporating a hydrocarbon wax which is a microcrystalline wax or a Fischer-Tropsch wax in the adhesive formulation.
Abstract: Sulfonyl carbazates containing at least one group of:--SO.sub.2 --NHNH--COO--wherein the oxygen and the sulfur atoms attach to various organic groups are useful as high temperature blowing agents for gas-expandable polymers. Additionally, novel polyfunctional and secondary-alkyl substituted sulfonyl carbazates have been discovered.
Abstract: Hydrocarbylsulfonyl carbohydrazides of the following structural formulae are disclosed for use as blowing agents: ##STR1## The compounds wherein the R groups are alkyl are novel, as are the polymeric products.
Abstract: A shipping harness assembly for use with collapsible containers to permit such containers, when filled with a liquid or dry powdered solid substances, to be "containerized" in cargo boxes for transoceanic movement by boat. The cargo boxes may also be positioned on truck or railway car beds for distribution on land. The shipping harness stabilizes the collapsible container, which is positioned on its side in the cargo box, through the provision of a plurality of straps encircling the collapsible container along its length and a plurality of straps positioned across said encircling straps in a direction generally parallel to the axis of the collapsible container. Each strap is anchored to the floor of the cargo box.
Abstract: New chemicals containing two diphenylaminomethane groups, linked together by a moiety other than oxygen, e.g., 1,2-bis[4-(3-methyl-alpha-aminobenzyl)phenoxy]ethane, are effective antimicrobial agents useful as agricultural or industrial fungicides and bactericides.
Abstract: Substituted 2,3-dihydro-1,4-oxathiins of the formula ##STR1## display useful plant growth regulant effects including herbicidal effects. Examples are 2,3-dihydro-5,6-diphenyl-1,4-oxathiin, and 2,3-dihydro-5-(4-methylphenyl)-6-phenyl-1,4-oxathiin 4-oxide. The compounds are useful for the selective control of grasses and as dwarfing agents, as well as for inhibition of vegetative and reproductive axillary growth, and for increasing the sugar content of sugar producing species. A number of these are new compounds.
