Abstract: A light emitting diode chip including a substrate and a light emitting diode element layer is provided. The substrate has a growth surface and a plurality of microstructures on the growth surface. An area of the growth surface occupied by the microstructures is A1 and an area of the growth surface not occupied by the micro-structures is A2, such that A1 and A2 satisfy the relation of 0.1?A2/(A1+A2)?0.5. The light emitting diode element layer is disposed on the growth surface of the substrate.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer readable medium are provided for utilizing augmented reality visualization to assist surgery. An example method includes generating a three dimensional reconstruction of an image stack representing a target area of a patient, and superimposing, by a head-mounted display, a projection of the three dimensional reconstruction onto a field of view of a user. The method further includes maintaining alignment between the projection and the user's actual view of the target area using a plurality of fiducial markers associated with the target area. In some embodiments, the method further includes scanning the target area to generate the image stack.

Abstract: Wastewater influent is supplied to an aeration zone having a membrane module. Activated sludge is established in the aeration zone and an oxygen surplus is maintained by controlling a rate of oxygen supplied to the aeration zone. Wastewater influent is mixed with the activated sludge to form a first mixed liquid. A portion of the first mixed liquid is filtered to form a filtrate and unfiltered activated sludge. The unfiltered activated sludge is mixed with the activated sludge in the aeration zone to form the first mixed liquid. A portion of the first mixed liquid is transferred from the aeration zone to an anaerobic zone, and a second portion of first mixed liquid is mixed with activated sludge in the anaerobic zone to form a second mixed liquid. The second mixed liquid is recycled to the aerobic zone.

Abstract: There is provided a system for detecting a drowning person within a water body, the system comprising (i) sonar sensors for forming a three dimensional grid of sonar waves within the water body, the grid having three dimensional grid cells; (ii) a movement path tracing unit adapted to be connected to the sonar sensors for tracing a movement path of a person within the water body by determining a sequence of successive grid cells crossed by the person within the grid in the course of said movement path, the determination of the successive grid cells being made based on detected propagation delays of the sonar waves forming the grid; and (iii) a drowning detection unit adapted to be connected to the movement path tracing unit for analyzing the movement path of the person and issuing an alarm when the movement path of the person is indicative of a drowning person movement path. There is also provided a kit and method for detecting a drowning person within a water body.

Abstract: An automatic sensing and warning device for placing an intravenous drip includes a transmitter unit, a blocking unit, a receiver unit, and a fixing device. The transmitter unit is attachable to an injection site on a patient's hand and is operable to transmit an identification signal. The receiver unit is arranged on the blocking unit and includes a drive circuit and a warning device. The fixing device supports the blocking unit and the receiver unit on the intravenous drip pole. The RF receiver is set at a predetermined vertical distance from a drip chamber and areas above and below the RF receiver are respectively defined as dangerous and safe areas. When the injection site is spaced from the drip chamber by a distance shorter than the predetermined distance, the RF receiver receives the identification signal from the RF transmitter and the drive circuit activates the warning device to issue warnings.
