    Abstract: An energy converting device having an eccentric rotor includes a fixed portion and an eccentric rotor. This fixed portion has a central axis, an outer frame, and several fixed coil portions. The eccentric rotor has a bearing, a rotatory shaft, an eccentric arm, an eccentric shaft portion, a supporting plate, an inner annular magnetic portion, and an outer annular magnetic portion. The inner magnetic portion and the outer magnetic portion are concentric and aligned with the eccentric shaft portion. The eccentric shaft portion is offset from the rotary shaft. When the rotary shaft of the eccentric rotor rotates, these fixed coil portions cut through the inner magnetic portion and the outer magnetic portion repeatedly, so magnetic flux passing through the coils alternates accordingly to generate electromotive force. Conversely, it can be used as an electric motor. In addition, it can be integrated with a cycloidal speed reducer to form a motor with speed reduction and torque augmentation capability.

    Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods that employ a widgetless and buttonless multi-touch interface for constrained manipulations of 3D objects. The widget-less multi-touch user interface can map different multi-touch gestures to different 3D object manipulation tasks, allowing a user to manipulate 3D objects without operating widgets or performing mode switchings or tool selections. User interaction is greatly simplified by using single touch actions that simultaneously specify the transformation constraint, the transformation type, and the magnitude of transformation and apply the transformation to the focus object. Additionally, the axis-based constrained manipulations support active snapping and axis transfer. Active snapping allows the user to draw a free touch path connecting two 3D objects to be snapped together, avoiding tedious operations required with standard transformation manipulations.

A hydrogel is also described herein that can include the multi-vinylsulfone containing molecule and a multi-thiol containing molecule. The hydrogel can be formed from an aqueous solution that includes the multi-vinylsulfone containing molecule and the multi-thiol containing molecule by undergoing gelatation upon delivery to a site in the body. Also described is a drug delivery system that employs the hydrogel.

    Abstract: The present invention utilizes a high-speed serial data transceiver to generate two high-speed electric pulse signals. After passing through a gain network, the signals are used for driving an electro-optic phase modulator (PM) so as to realize phase modulation of photon signals. The present invention may directly use a high-speed digital signal to realize a four-phase modulation function needed by the BB84 quantum key distribution protocol without using a digital to analog converter or an analog switch. This can prevent modulation rate from being restricted by links including digital-to-analogue conversion, switching of the analogue and the like. A dual-electrode electro-optic phase modulator scheme can also effectively reduce requirements for amplitude of a modulation driving signal, thus facilitating realization of high-speed phase modulation, which meets requirements of quantum key distribution.

    Abstract: A supercapattery includes at least one tank filled with a conductive material. The conductive material has an arrangement-variable crystal lattice. A magnetic member is mounted outside of the at least one tank. The magnetic member can be supplied with electricity to create a magnetic field. A method for controlling charge/discharge of a supercapattery includes supplying electricity to a supercapattery filled with a conductive material having an arrangement-variable crystal lattice. The crystal lattice of the conductive material supplied with electricity is transformed from an isotropic phase into an electro-nematic phase and absorbs electrons. An external magnetic field is created to return the crystal lattice of the conductive material from the electro-nematic phase to the isotropic phase, releasing the electrons.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a new metal cyano-substituted benzimidazolide salt having formula (I) and its preparation. This new cyano-substituted benzimidazole derivatives exhibited excellent thermal stability. The organic salt of the present invention were soluble in an alkyl carbonate solvent, such as propylene carbonate (PC), dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and ethylene carbonate (EC)/DMC cosolvent. The non-aqueous electrolyte prepared by mixing the organic metal salt of the present invention with the alkyl carbonate solvent shows high conductivity and excellent electrochemical stability. The non-aqueous electrolyte is suitable for use in primary or secondary rechargeable batteries.
