Abstract: The invention is an authentication framework that enables a user to log in to a website using an Internet-connected device, such as smartphone, smart watch, smart glasses, or tablet, while browsing on a computer. The framework makes it easier for people with certain disabilities to log in to a website, such as by removing the mandatory step of entering usernames and passwords while giving users multiple options through which they are establish their identity using Internet-connected devices. For example, gyroscope, camera, microphone, or the accelerometer can be used to provide credentials. This approach of the framework greatly reduces the number of barriers that a user with disability encounters when trying to use password-based authentication on the Internet.
Abstract: The invention includes methods and apparatuses for patient transfer from a rollable chair to a bed and back. A rollable chair includes a first frame having a seat; a second frame coupled to the first frame, the second frame having a backrest configured to move relative to the first frame; and a third frame coupled to the first frame, the third frame having a track having a curvilinear length configured to allow the first frame to rotate and to translate relative to the third frame. A bed includes a chair-receiving frame configured to couple to the first frame of the rollable chair. The rollable chair and the bed work in tandem to transfer a patient, for example using coordinated, automated motions.

Abstract: A method of reducing the concentration of carbon dioxide in blood plasma includes removing blood from a patient and treating or processing at least blood plasma of the blood by flowing the blood plasma on one side of at least one semi-permeable membrane and flowing a dialysate on the other side of the at least one semi-permeable membrane. The dialysate has a concentration of bicarbonate less than the concentration of bicarbonate in the blood plasma before treating the blood plasma and has a composition such that the blood plasma strong ion difference that results from treating the blood plasma in conjunction with an achieved reduction in blood plasma CO2 concentration results in a blood plasma pH that does not change by more than +/?0.5 during treatment.

Abstract: Provided are a series of crocins compounds and related pharmacological applications thereof in prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The series of crocins compounds are obtained by taking the Chinese herb, namely Gardenia jasminoides Ellis, as a raw material and separating same by means of various methods. The compounds playing a role in preventing oxidative injury caused by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and excitatory amino acid injury caused by L-glutamic acid are screened out by in-vitro cell experiments. The results show that the crocins compounds have good effect in preventing cell injury caused by H2O2 and L-glutamic acid. The compounds have good effect in preventing and treating Alzheimer's disease due to the fact that significant rise of oxidative stress and excitatory amino acid is a key factor for nerve injury in Alzheimer's disease, and have broad development and application prospect.

Abstract: In one aspect, embodiments disclosed herein relate to a lens-free imaging system. The lens-free imaging system includes: an image sampler, a radiation source, a mask disposed between the image sampler and a scene, and an image sampler processor. The image sampler processor obtains signals from the image sampler that is exposed, through the mask, to radiation scattered by the scene which is illuminated by the radiation source. The image sampler processor then estimates an image of the scene based on the signals from the image sampler, processed using a transfer function that relates the signals and the scene.
