Abstract: A plurality of modules are simultaneously positioned at locations that correspond to different angiosomes. Each of these modules has a front surface shaped and dimensioned for contacting a person's skin, a plurality of different-wavelength light sources aimed in a forward direction, and a plurality of light detectors aimed to detect light arriving from in front of the front surface. Each module is supported by a support structure (e.g., a strap or a clip) that is shaped and dimensioned to hold the front surface adjacent to the person's skin at a respective position. Perfusion in each of the angiosomes is monitored using these modules, and the surgeon can rely on this information to guide his or her intervention.

Abstract: A strain sensor utilizes an ohmic-based contact switch to detect strain. The sensor can be incorporated into other structures, such as an artificial flapping wing, to detect strain and other parameters, including air flow disturbances. The sensors are fabricated using an additive manufacturing process, with a layer of gold or other conductive material applied for electrical conductivity and UV laser ablation for electrical isolation. The sensor design incorporates mechanical amplification, converting small strains into larger displacements that close contact pads, resulting in an ohmic switch activated at a specific strain threshold. Unlike traditional sensors, the switch provides a high or low state output directly without the need for additional amplification or post-processing. The device can detect disturbances in flapping wing cycles and obtain yaw rotation information, with potential applications in other aircraft for disturbance detection.

Abstract: A collaboration of miners cooperatively notarizes transactions to be added to a distributed ledger. A solution space is identified for notarizing the transactions, such as an integer space that may contain a nonce that, when hashed with the transactions or block, yields a hash value that satisfies specified criteria. The solution space is apportioned so that each miner has a discrete slice of the space in which to search for the nonce: different slices may be of equal or different sizes. All miners search their slices in parallel. If no miner announces success (e.g., within a specified time period), the solution space shifts so that each miner becomes responsible for a different slice. All miners may be rewarded when a solution is found, but a miner that failed to discover the nonce, despite searching a slice that contained it, is penalized and may not share in the reward.
