  • Patent number: 10900865
Abstract: An experimental setup for three-degree-of-freedom large-amplitude free vibration in a wind tunnel test. The setup includes a rigid test model, rigid circular rods, rigid lifting arms, arc blocks with grooves, lightweight high-strength thin strings, linear tensile springs, fixed pulleys, and bearings. Large-amplitude three-degree-of-freedom free vibrations of test models can be adapted by the vertical deformation of the springs without any tilt. The possible nonlinear mechanical stiffness due to vertical spring tilt and lateral spring deflection are excluded. It is convenient to install the test model and adjust the initial angle of attack in the new experimental setup. The linear stiffness property and hence constant vibration frequency can be ensured for very large-amplitude vibrations due to the eliminations of spring deflection and tilt.

  • Patent number: 10900069
Abstract: This disclosure related to methods of detecting mechanical forces required to separate ligand and receptor interactions. In certain embodiments, this disclosure relates to methods of detecting mechanical forces between a ligand and receptor, where the ligand is immobilized on a surface using weaker forces. Ligand-receptor forces lead to dissociation of the ligand that can be detected and amplified. In certain embodiments, the disclosure relates to methods of detecting ligand and receptor interactions comprising linking a ligand to one of two binding partners, wherein the binding partners have attracting forces that are less than the forces between the ligand and a receptor of the ligand such that when the ligand binds the receptor, the binding partners will separate. Separation of the binding partners can be detected.

  • Patent number: 10903434
Abstract: An organic semiconductor element functions as a strain sensor, and includes a substrate and an organic semiconductor layer formed on the substrate as a single-crystal thin film of an organic semiconductor that is a polycyclic aromatic compound with four or more rings or a polycyclic compound with four or more rings including one or a plurality of unsaturated five-membered heterocyclic compounds and a plurality of benzene rings. Since the organic semiconductor layer is formed as the single-crystal thin film, an identical crystal structure is obtained regardless of formation technique. Therefore, when the same strain is given, the same carrier mobility is obtained and uniform property is obtained with respect to the strain. Accordingly, it is possible to provide strain sensors having uniform property.

  • Patent number: 10898254
Abstract: A long-term implantable ultrasound therapy system and method is provided that provides directional, focused ultrasound to localized regions of tissue within body joints, such as spinal joints. An ultrasound emitter or transducer is delivered to a location within the body associated with the joint and heats the target region of tissue associated with the joint from the location. Such locations for ultrasound transducer placement may include for example in or around the intervertebral discs, or the bony structures such as vertebral bodies or posterior vertebral elements such as facet joints. Various modes of operation provide for selective, controlled heating at different temperature ranges to provide different intended results in the target tissue, which ranges are significantly effected by pre-stressed tissues such as in-vivo intervertebral discs. In particular, treatments above 70 degrees C., and in particular 75 degrees C.
