  • Patent number: 9650632
Abstract: Molecules are provided for inducing or facilitating exon skipping in forming spliced mRNA products from pre-mRNA molecules in cells. The molecules may be provided directly as oligonucleotides or expression products of vectors that are administered to a subject. High rates of skipping can be achieved. High rates of skipping reduce the severity of a disease like Duchene Muscular Dystrophy so that the disease is more like Becker Muscular Dystrophy. This is a severe reduction in symptom severity and mortality.

  • Patent number: 9651763
Abstract: The present invention discloses a co-aperture broadband infrared optical system, belonging to the field of infrared optical system. The system realizes long wave infrared (LWIR) imaging and broadband infrared spectrum measurement, and solves the problems of limited optical path layout, large volume and high cost of an optical system. The present invention includes a Cassegrain lens, a spectroscope, a reflector, several lens groups, an FPA interface and an optical fiber interface. Light (2 ?m˜12 ?m) is incident to the Cassegrain lens to be focused, then is split by the spectroscope, where 50% of the LWIR light (8 ?m˜10 ?m) passes through the lens group for aberration correction, and the image plane is focused again at the imaging interface. The other 50% of the LWIR light (8 ?m˜10 ?m) and the infrared reflected light (2 ?m˜8 ?m and 10 ?m˜12 ?m) pass through the lens group, and are reflected by the reflector, then focused at the optical fiber interface.

  • Patent number: 9650248
Abstract: Reagent complexes have two or more elements, formally in oxidation state zero, complexed with a hydride molecule. Complexation with the hydride molecule may be evidenced by shifts to lower binding energies, of one or more electrons in each of the two or more elements, as observed by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The reagents can be useful for the synthesis of multi-element nanoparticles. Preparation of the reagents can be achieved by ball-milling a mixture that includes powders of two or more elements and a hydride molecule.

  • Patent number: 9649338
Abstract: The disclosure relates to coatings that contain silver, either in the form of metallic silver, silver oxides, salts of silver, or combinations of these. The silver is present in a microparticulate or nanoparticulate form, which exerts antimicrobial activity when bacteria (e.g., in a body fluid) contact the coated surface. The coatings are applied through accumulation of silver-containing particles on the surface, such as by sputtering or electron beam vapor deposition. As a result, their thickness, particle size, and density can be controlled. Furthermore, the surface can also be coated with other substances, such as diamond-like carbon or alumina, either as a discrete layer or intermixed with the silver-containing particles.
