  • Patent number: 9726742
Abstract: A method for iteratively calibrating a reconstruction kernel for use in accelerated magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is provided. An MRI system is used to acquire k-space data from multiple slice locations following the application of a multiband radio frequency (RF) excitation pulse. An initial reconstruction kernel is generated from the acquired k-space data, and this initial reconstruction kernel is used to produce an initial image for each of the multiple slice locations by applying the initial reconstruction kernel to the acquired k-space data. The average phase of each slice location is then calculated from these images, and used to shift the phase values of the subsequently acquired k-space data. From the phase-shifted k-space data, an updated reconstruction kernel is then generated. This process is repeated iteratively until a stopping criterion is satisfied.

  • Patent number: 9729967
Abstract: Reducing feedback in an input signal that contains a signal component based on an output signal from a proximate output. The input signal is separated into a plurality of frequency bands by band pass filters. The power of signal in each band is determined, and the band signal with the greatest power is selected. That band's signal is sampled at a sampling rate, and at regular intervals one of the samples is selected. Blind signal separation is used to estimate signal sources from the selected samples. The estimated signals are compared to the output signal, and the estimated signal most similar to the output signal is subtracted from the input signal.

  • Patent number: 9724005
Abstract: A real-time multi-channel EEG signal processor based on an on-line recursive independent component analysis is provided. A whitening unit generates covariance matrix by computing covariance according to a received sampling signal. A covariance matrix generates a whitening matrix by a computation of an inverse square root matrix calculation unit. An ORICA calculation unit computes the sampling signal and the whitening matrix to obtain a post-whitening sampling signal. The post-whitening sampling signal and an unmixing matrix implement an independent component analysis computation to obtain an independent component data. An ORICA training unit implements training of the unmixing matrix according to the independent component data to generate a new unmixing matrix. The ORICA calculation unit may use the new unmixing matrix to implement an independent component analysis computation. Hardware complexity and power consumption can be reduced by sharing registers and arithmetic calculation units.

  • Patent number: 9727342
Abstract: For an error resilient pipeline, a Dynamically Adaptable Resilient Pipeline (DARP) controller determines a minimum error pipeline stage of a processor instruction pipeline with a minimum number of errors. In addition, the DARP controller determines a maximum error pipeline stage of the instruction pipeline with a maximum number of errors. The DARP controller increases a clock frequency for the instruction pipeline if the minimum number of errors of the minimum error pipeline stage is zero and the maximum number of errors of the maximum error pipeline stage does not exceed an error threshold. In addition, the DARP controller decreases the clock frequency if the minimum number of errors exceeds an error constant.

  • Patent number: 9728703
Abstract: Apparatus and methods of generating electricity include using an optically and thermally responsive material comprising single-walled Carbon nanotubes and Copper sulfide nanoparticles. This material acts as a thermoelectric generator lacking rectifying effects. In some forms, the generator may generate electricity from a light source alone, a heat source alone, or a source of both light and heat. Some forms exhibit enhanced optical and thermal switching characteristics, light absorption, photocurrent and thermocurrent generation under light illumination or/and thermal radiation, providing a new route to obtain thermoelectricity without any cooling or heat-sink component. Moreover, measurements showed thin films of SWNT CuS NPs had significantly increased light absorption (up to 80%) compared to untreated SWNT thin films.
