Abstract: An imaging system comprises an excitation light source, a directing element positioned to direct light from the excitation light source toward a sample, a detector configured to measure incoming light from the sample, a filter cavity positioned between the sample and the detector, a first filter configured to be inserted into the filter cavity, a sine filter configured to be inserted into the filter cavity, and a processing unit communicatively connected to the detector, configured to receive image data from the detector to form an image. Methods of constructing a hyperspectral image of a sample are also described.

Abstract: It is provided a water-saturated carbon molecular sieve membrane obtainable by a) providing a hydrophilic carbon molecular sieve membrane (CMSM) comprising pores of a pore size from 0.25 nm to 0.55 nm for molecular sieving, pores of a pore size from 0.55 nm to 0.90 nm for adsorption diffusion and a negligible amount of pores larger than 0.90 nm such that a plot of N2 permeance versus pressure of permeation at room temperature and at a pressure from 1 to 4 bar has zero or negative slope; and b) humidifying the membrane until obtaining a water-saturated carbon molecular sieve membrane. It is also provided a process for the separation of a gas from a gas mixture with such a water-saturated membrane, and its use for solvent dehydration, and as a membrane reactor.

Abstract: The invention relates to Chevrel-phase materials and methods of preparing these materials utilizing a precursor approach. The Chevrel-phase materials are useful in assembling electrodes, e.g., cathodes, for use in electrochemical cells, such as rechargeable batteries. The Chevrel-phase materials have a general formula of Mo6Z8 (Z=sulfur) or Mo6Z18-yZ2y (Z1=sulfur; Z2=selenium), and partially cuprated Cu1Mo6S8 as well as partially de-cuprated Cu1-xMgxMo6S8 and the precursors have a general formula of MxMo6Z8 or MxMo6Z18-yZ2y, M=Cu. The cathode containing the Chevrel-phase material in accordance with the invention can be combined with a magnesium-containing anode and an electrolyte.

Abstract: A device for occlusion of a body lumen comprises an implantable occlusion apparatus (3) operably attached to an elongated catheter member (4) configured for transluminal delivery and deployment of the occlusion apparatus in the body lumen. The occlusion apparatus comprises a radially expansible element (5) detachably attached to the elongated catheter member, and adjustable between a contracted orientation suitable for 10 transluminal delivery and a deployed orientation configured to occlude the body lumen, an energy delivery element (6, 14, 21) configured to deliver energy to surrounding tissue to heat the tissue, and a sensor (7) configured to detect a parameter of the wall of the body lumen. The energy delivery element (6, 14, 21) and sensor (7) are axially movable independently of the radially expansible element whereby, in use, the energy delivery 15 element and sensor can be transluminally retracted leaving the radially expansible element in-situ occluding the body lumen.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a device and process for preparing sebacic acid through electromagnetic induction heating coupled with dry constant-temperature alkaline hydrolysis. The device includes an electromagnetic heating cylinder and a reaction kettle arranged in the electromagnetic heating cylinder, heat storage pellets fill space between the reaction kettle and the electromagnetic heating cylinder, and the heat storage pellets adhere to an inner wall of the electromagnetic heating cylinder and an outer wall of the reaction kettle. The upper end of the reaction kettle is provided with a feeding port, a gas outlet and a temperature measuring port, the reaction kettle is also provided with a stirring device, a lower portion of the reaction kettle is provided with a discharging port, and the feeding port, the gas outlet, the temperature measuring port and the discharging port all extend out of the thermal insulation cotton.

Abstract: A terahertz modulator includes a substrate and an organic semiconductor layer. A material of the organic semiconductor layer is graphitic carbon nitride, and the organic semiconductor layer is coated on a surface of the substrate. The terahertz modulator has a high on-off contrast and is able to reach a high modulation speed. A terahertz spatial light modulator includes a terahertz modulator and an automatic pumped light spatial modulator. The automatic pumped light spatial modulator is optically connected with the terahertz modulator. The terahertz spatial light modulator generates a patterned terahertz light, and the terahertz spatial light modulator has a high on-off contrast and is able to reach a high modulation speed.

Abstract: A method of forming an optical interconnect between first and second photonic chips located on an optical printed circuit board (OPCB) includes applying a coupling agent to a bonding surface of a flexible, freestanding polymer waveguide array film having at least one polymer waveguide disposed therein. The waveguide array film is placed onto the first and second photonic chips so that the waveguide array film extends over a gap and/or a step between the first and second photonic chips to thereby form a bonding interface between the bonding surface of the waveguide array film and the first and second photonic chips. The coupling agent is selected such that optical coupling between the first and second photonic chips arises simultaneously with formation of the bonding interface.
