  • Patent number: 8990658
Abstract: Data that are stored in cells of a multi-bit-per cell memory, according to a systematic or non-systematic ECC, are read and corrected (systematic ECC) or recovered (non-systematic ECC) in accordance with estimated probabilities that one or more of the read bits are erroneous. In one method of the present invention, the estimates are a priori. In another method of the present invention, the estimates are based only on aspects of the read bits that include significances or bit pages of the read bits. In a third method of the present invention, the estimates are based only on values of the read bits. Not all the estimates are equal.

  • Patent number: 8988882
Abstract: A circuit element is arranged on an organic substrate and connected to a wiring pattern arranged on the organic substrate. An internal connection electrode is formed on a conductive support body by electroforming so as to obtain a unitary block of the internal connection electrode and the support body. Each end of each of the internal connection electrodes connected into a unitary block by the support body is connected to the wiring pattern. After the circuit element is sealed by resin, the support body is peeled off, so as to obtain individual internal connection electrodes separately and the other end of each of the internal connection electrodes is used as an external connection electrode on the front surface while the external connection electrode on the rear surface is connected to the wiring pattern.

  • Patent number: 8989411
Abstract: A vacuum sealed directional microphone and methods for fabricating said vacuum sealed directional microphone. A vacuum sealed directional microphone includes a rocking structure coupled to two vacuum sealed diaphragms which are responsible for collecting incoming sound and deforming under sound pressure. The rocking structure's resistance to bending aids in reducing the deflection of each diaphragm under large atmospheric pressure. Furthermore, the rocking structure exhibits little resistance about its pivot thereby enabling it to freely rotate in response to small pressure gradients characteristic of sound. The backside cavities of such a device can be fabricated without the use of the deep reactive ion etch step thereby allowing such a microphone to be fabricated with a CMOS compatible process.

  • Patent number: 8984840
Abstract: A method and system for covering industrial wood plank or wood block floors that can be installed quickly without creating a hazardous environment or hazardous wastes and without the necessity of removing installed equipment. Sand is swept over the wood to fill voids and cracks. Next metal lath is stapled to the wood. A first layer of epoxy is poured onto the metal lath. After this is cured, a second coat of finish epoxy can be installed on the first epoxy layer. When this dries, the job is done and operations can be restarted, or an optional topcoat can be applied. The epoxy material used can be self-leveling for ease of application and the final floor is approximately level. The finished floor is flexible to not crack under heavy loads and to absorb shock.
