Abstract: A sensor including a layer of amorphous selenium (a-Se) and at least one charge blocking layer is formed by depositing the charge blocking layer over a substrate prior to depositing the amorphous selenium, enabling the charge blocking layer to be formed at elevated temperatures. Such a process is not limited by the crystallization temperature of a-Se, resulting in the formation of an efficient charge blocking layer, which enables improved signal amplification of the resulting device. The sensor can be fabricated by forming first and second amorphous selenium layers over separate substrates, and then fusing the a-Se layers at a relatively low temperature.

Abstract: A method for producing a fluoride functionalized zeolite catalyst is described, having a F/Si molar ratio of 0.1:1-3:1. The method involves mixing a fluoride salt with zeolite components to form a gel, which is then hydrothermally treated and calcined. The fluoride functionalized zeolite catalyst may be used for cracking an olefin stream into ethylene, propylene, and butylene, with high selectivity towards propylene. The fluoride functionalized zeolite catalyst may be used for 50 or more hours with a stable conversion rate and low coke formation.

Abstract: Described is a novel method for feature extraction for automatic gait recognition. This method uses Multi-kernel Fuzzy-based Local Gabor Binary Pattern. From a captured gait video sequence, the gait period is determined then a gait energy image is constructed to represent the spatial-temporal variations during one motion cycle of the gait sequence. Then, each gait sequence is represented with a feature vector. The computation of this vector is conducted by first applying the 2D Gabor filter bank then encoding the variations in the Gabor magnitude using a multi-kernel fuzzy local binary pattern operator. Finally, gait classification is performed using a support vector machine.
