Abstract: Disclosed are methods of lithography using a tip array having a plurality of pens attached to a backing layer, where the tips can comprise a metal, metalloid, and/or semi-conducting material, and the backing layer can comprise an elastomeric polymer. The tip array can be used to perform a lithography process in which the tips are coated with an ink (e.g., a patterning composition) that is deposited onto a substrate upon contact of the tip with the substrate surface. The tips can be easily leveled onto a substrate and the leveling can be monitored optically by a change in light reflection of the backing layer and/or near the vicinity of the tips upon contact of the tip to the substrate surface.

Abstract: The C-terminal domain of focal adhesion kinase (FAK-CD) was isolated using a Baculoviral system. Using phage display techniques, a phage encoding a 12 amino-acid peptide (peptide 35) and AV3 that binds to FAK-CD were identified. The peptides were also conjugated to TAT-FITC to produce a fluorescently labeled chimeric molecule capable of penetrating cell membranes. Contacting various breast cancer cell lines with these molecule caused detachment, rounding, apoptosis and cell death. These effects were not observed in normal (non-cancerous) breast cells.

Abstract: A pixel unit for driving an organic light emitting diode (OLED) is disclosed. The pixel unit includes a driving transistor, a compensating capacitor, a selecting switch module, a power switch and a configuration switch. One terminal of the compensating capacitor is coupled to a gate of the driving transistor. The selecting switch module provides the ground voltage or the compensating voltage to the other terminal of the compensating capacitor according to a first control signal. The power switch is coupled between a power voltage and a drain of the driving transistor and is controlled by a second control signal. The configuration switch receives the first control signal for controlling a connecting configuration of the driving transistor. The pixel unit is driven according to the first and the second control signals for compensating threshold voltage shifting of the OLED and the driving transistor.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for moving and concentrating particles apply an alternating driving field and an alternating field that alters mobility of the particles. The driving field and mobility-varying field are correlated with one another. The methods and apparatus may be used to concentrate DNA or RNA in a medium, for example. Methods and apparatus for extracting particles from one medium into another involve applying an alternating driving field that causes net drift of the particles from the first medium into the second medium but no net drift of the particles in the second medium.
Abstract: Methods for NMR microimaging of biological tissue are provided. Polymeric nanoparticles are provided as a contrast agent to subject tissue to be imaged. Each polymeric nanoparticle may include an iron oxide core that exhibits superparamagnetic properties that enhance tissue imaging when placed within a magnetic field, an anionic surfacant applied to the core, a polymeric layer that encapsulates the core and the anionic surfacant, and an antibody attached to the polymeric layer to facilitate attachment to the subject tissue. Following the provision of the polymeric nanoparticles as a contrast agent to the subject tissue, the subject tissue may be images utilizing a twenty-one Tesla microimaging technique.
