Abstract: A method of detecting a tsunami by using the global positioning system (GPS) is provided. The method includes distributing multiple GPS receivers over a sea surface in a target area, receiving signals from GPS satellites by the GPS receivers, and transmitting the signals and coordinates of the GPS receivers to a computer. The signals are then processed to acquire real-time monitoring data including the distribution of electrons in the ionosphere above the target area, and the occurrence of a tsunami is then determined based on the distribution of electrons.
Abstract: Computational methods are used to create cardiovascular simulations having desired hemodynamic features. Cardiovascular modeling methods produce descriptions of blood flow and pressure in the heart and vascular networks. Numerical methods optimize and solve nonlinear equations to find parameter values that result in desired hemodynamic characteristics including related flow and pressure at various locations in the cardiovascular system, movements of soft tissues, and changes for different physiological states. The modeling methods employ simplified models to approximate the behavior of more complex models with the goal of to reducing computational expense. The user describes the desired features of the final cardiovascular simulation and provides minimal input, and the system automates the search for the final patient-specific cardiovascular model.

Abstract: Amplification of the ANXA9 gene in human chromosomal region 1q21 in epithelial cancers indicates a likelihood of both in vivo drug resistance and metastasis, and serves as a biomarker indicating these aspects of the disease. ANXA9 can also serve as a therapeutic target. Interfering RNAs (iRNAs) (such as siRNA and miRNA) and shRNA adapted to inhibit ANXA9 expression, when formulated in a therapeutic composition, and delivered to cells of the tumor, function to treat the epithelial cancer.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided to control a lighting angle of headlights installed in a vehicle. In the apparatus, a curve of the road is calculated and the radius of the curve is obtained, based on the current position and the road information. The curve is located ahead of the vehicle. A distance from the current position to a starting point of the curve is calculated based on the current position and the road information. Determination is made as to whether or not the curve is an S-shaped curve based on the road information, and line-shape information showing a line shape of the S-curve is set in response to the determination results of the curve. A lighting angle of the headlights is calculated based on the radius of the curve, the distance and the line-shape information, and the lighting angle of the headlights is controlled based on the calculated lighting angle.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method of looking up an IP address using a Bloom filter and a multi-hashing architecture. The present invention generates a plurality of hashing indexes by hashing inputted prefixes, determines whether a bit vector corresponding to the plurality of hashing indexes is positive or negative by using the Bloom filter, and outputs a prefix matching the inputted prefix by searching entries of locations indicated by the plurality of hashing indexes in the hash table when the bit vector is determined to be positive. The present invention further outputs the prefix that matches the inputted prefix by searching entries stored in the overflow table.

A rectifying diode has a grounded anode coupled to an anode of a clamp diode, and a cathode coupled to the second winding. A cathode of the clamp diode is coupled to a clamp switch and the first winding. A full-bridge circuit includes a first series connection of first and second switches, and a second series connection of third and fourth switches. The first and second series connections are coupled in parallel between the first winding and ground. The output capacitor is coupled between a first common node between the first and second switches, and a second common node between the third and fourth switches.
Abstract: The present invention is in the field of plant breeding and disease resistance. More specifically, the invention includes a method for breeding soybean plants containing one or more quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with resistance to Southern Root Knot Nematode (SRKN). The invention further provides germplasm and the use of germplasm containing QTL conferring disease resistance for introgression into elite germplasm in a breeding program, thus producing novel elite germplasm comprising one or more SRKN resistance QTL.

Abstract: Conducting polythiophene films are produced by the oxidation of bithiophene or terthiophene monomers using phosphomolybdic acid, wherein the reagents are first combined to form a metastable solution, the solution is then cast as a film, and polymerization ultimately initiated by evaporation of the solvent The equivalent formation of polypyrrole via the oxidation of pyrrole using phosphomolybdic acid has been previously demonstrated, but this approach cannot be applied directly to thiophene, which has too high an oxidation potential Bithiophene and terthiophene have lower oxidation potentials, close to that of pyrrole This work suggests the previously demonstrated method is suitable for general application, requiring only the proper matching of monomer and oxidant redox potentials, and the selection of a suitable solvent and starting concentration Smooth, spin-coated polythiophene films having thicknesses of 100 to 200 run and conductivities in the range 0.2 to 0.3 S-cm?1 have been prepared.

Abstract: A net-mouth inclined trawl-net apparatus includes a substantially rectangular frame and a trawl net attached to the frame. The trawl net is formed of an upper net, a lower net, and a pair of side nets, and the trawl net has a shape formed of a body part of a quadrangular trapezoid shape. Each of the side nets attached to the frame has a longer side and a shorter side as an upper side and a lower side, and a side of each side net defining a net-mouth edge defines a side-net front edge inclination angle relative to a bottom side of an isosceles trapezoid having the shorter side of the side net as a side of the isosceles trapezoid, so that the frame autonomously maintains an inclination angle relative to the vertical axis due to a flow resistance and a lift acting on the net.
