Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for reducing effects of restless legs syndrome (RLS) in a subject. The method includes identifying, on the subject, a body region affected by RLS, placing an emitter unit in direct contact with skin of the body region, wherein the emitter unit includes at least one emitter that emits near-infrared light, and activating the emitter to emit an effective amount of near-infrared light for inducing release of nitric oxide from hemoglobin or generation in the endothelium. Also disclosed is an emitter unit that is placed in direct contact with a subject's skin associated with RLS to reduce the effects of RLS. The emitter unit emits an effective amount of near-infrared light directed to the subject's skin to induce release of nitric oxide from hemoglobin or generation in the endothelium, and a module configured to toggle the emitter unit between a transmitting and a nontransmitting mode.

Abstract: Provided are a communication method and system for sensor network. In reporting event occurrence in a real-time sensor network application, a cycle time is divided into an event announcement period and a data transmission period to provide real-time transmission performance and energy efficiency. Each of the periods is again divided into the number of slots equal to the maximum depth of a network. Respective nodes sequentially operate according to their depths in a routing tree during the event announcement period to receive the signal transmitted from the lower node. To remove sleep delay, a slot next to the signal reception slot becomes a signal transmission slot. A node sensed an event transmits a signal informing event occurrence during its signal transmission slot, and this signal includes only the address of the transmission node. When a signal does not exist in the event announcement period, no traffic occurs in the data transmission period and the upper nodes maintain a sleep state.

Abstract: The invention provides anti-14-3-3 eta antibodies that specifically bind to the human 14-3-3 eta protein isoform in its natural configuration while exhibiting selectivity over human 14-3-3 alpha, beta, delta, epsilon, gamma, tau, and zeta protein isoforms. Methods, kits and pharmaceutical compositions comprising said specific anti-14-3-3 eta antibodies are further provided for the diagnosis and treatment of arthritis.
Abstract: Blockade of mismatch repair in a plant can lead to hypermutation and a new genotype and/or phenotype. One approach used to generate hypermutable plants is through the expression of dominant negative alleles of mismatch repair genes in transgenic plants or derived cells. By introducing these genes into cells and transgenic plants, new cell lines and plant varieties with novel and useful properties can be prepared more efficiently than by relying on the natural rate of mutation. Moreover, methods to inhibit the expression and activity of endogenous plant MMR genes and their encoded products are also useful to generate hypermutable plants.

The routing method includes the steps of a) selecting one of a plurality of basic nodes as a cluster head; b) broadcasting a first message by the cluster head; c) continuing to broadcast the first message by any of the plurality of basic nodes which receives the first message, until all the plurality of basic nodes receive the first message; and d) selecting a corresponding father node by each of the plurality of basic nodes based on an information associated with the first message.
Abstract: Presentation of images showing with high resolution the state of a surgical field during surgery is realized with a simple configuration. When performing surgery, a three-dimensional model is generate based on MRI images of a patient captured prior to surgery, and three-dimensional coordinates of each location on a surface of the patient are measured by scanning a laser beam over the surface and detecting laser beam reflected therefrom, and correspondence is made with the MRI image for each location of the surface (frameless/markerless: steps 100 to 116), the position of a surgical instrument is also detected by the laser beam, the position of the surgical instrument derived, and images of the surgical instrument combined onto the MRI images and displayed during surgery (steps 120 to 130).
