Publication number: 20090196312Abstract: An integrated circuit multiplexes transmission data faster than by a system clock, and transfers a timing pulse Txclk for that multiplexing and a multiplexed signal Txdata from a transmitter chip 100 to a receiver chip 150 through communications by inductive coupling, respectively. Because of a transfer by inductive coupling being broadband, close-proximity wireless communications, the receiver chip 150 can faithfully obtain timing information on the timing pulse Txclk including jitter generated by a simple oscillator, and can thus accurately restore original data even by a high-speed transmission. This allows, in an integrated circuit that carries out communications by inductive coupling between chips to be stacked and mounted, carrying out communications between semiconductor chips with a small required area and faster than by a system clock.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 27, 2009Publication date: August 6, 2009Applicant: Keio UniversityInventor: Tadahiro Kuroda

Publication number: 20090197943Abstract: Multidrug resistance (MDR) is a major problem in cancer chemotherapy. The best characterized resistance mechanism is the one mediated by the over-expression of drug efflux transporters, permeability-glycoprotein (P-gp), which pump a variety of anticancer drugs out of the cells, resulting in lowered intracellular drug accumulation. A series of flavonoid dimers are developed in this invention, which are linked together by linker groups of various lengths. These flavonoid dimers are found to be efficient P-gp modulators that increase cytotoxicity of anticancer drugs in vitro and dramatically enhance their intracellular drug accumulation. It is found that the flavonoid dimers of this invention is also useful in reducing drug resistance in treating parasitic diseases.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 9, 2007Publication date: August 6, 2009Applicants: The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, McGill UniversityInventors: Tak-Hang Chan, Larry Ming-Cheung Chow

Publication number: 20090197209Abstract: Lithographically patterned nanowire electrodeposition (LPNE) combines attributes of photolithography with the versatility of bottom-up electrochemical synthesis. Photolithography is employed to define the position of a sacrificial nanoband electrode, preferably formed from a metal such as nickel, copper, silver, gold or the like, which is stripped using electrooxidation or a chemical etchant to advantageously recess the nanoband electrode between a substrate surface and the photoresist to form a trench defined by the substrate surface, the photoresist and the nanoband electrode. The trench acts as a “nanoform” to form an incipient nanowire during its electrodeposition. The width of the nanowire is determined by the electrodeposition duration while its height is determined by the height of the nanoband electrode.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 21, 2007Publication date: August 6, 2009Applicant: The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventors: Reginald M.
