  • Patent number: 5383287
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a wire group in a drying section provided with single-wire draw in a paper machine or paper finishing machine. A paper web to be dried is passed on support of a drying wire alternatingly over heated cylinder faces of drying cylinders and over leading rolls or other equivalent drying cylinders. The paper web is pressed into direct contact against the heated cylinder face of the drying cylinders and, on the leading rolls, the paper web is placed on the outside face of the drying-wire loop at a side of the outside curve. In the invention, the difference in speed of the paper web which the paper web would have during operation of the drying section on the turning sectors of the drying cylinders and the leading rolls is reduced by dimensioning of the structure of the drying wire in the direction of thickness and by selecting appropriate materials for the structure of the drying wire.

  • Patent number: 5376805
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and assembly suited to determining the size and position of a head relative to a clamp when using an industrial multi-axis robot. The invention is based on moving the clamp by means of the robot advantageously past three sensor elements and providing the clamp with a target element suitable for aiding in the position detection of the reference point of the clamp at the instant the clamp moves past a first sensor element. The size and position of the head are determined on the basis of geometrical lines computed from the head edge intercept signals obtained by means of the sensor elements. The lengths of the geometrical lines are determined from the speed of the clamp and the time intervals of intersect instants counted by a control system counter card connected to said sensor elements.

  • Patent number: 5354976
Abstract: A method for identification of a roll and for determining its diameter, in which a device for reading the identifier and the sensor for measuring the diameter are mounted to a unit moving on a vertical lead, and its position is tracked by a position sensor. The diameter of the roll is detected by a mechanical detector that turns up when it contacts the surface of the roll enabling thus an uninterrupted movement of the unit past the measurement site. After the measurement of the diameter the identification unit moves to the center of the roll, inferred from the diameter, where the device for reading the identifier reads the identification code of the roll. During the return movement of the identification unit, markings can be made on the end of the roll by an ink-jet printer.
