Abstract: Systems and methods for adapting a service provided based on a local taxonomy defining a local community of individuals are disclosed. The systems and methods involve a close proximity protocol used to detect and/or communicate with various mobile devices located within a certain range of a site location, and include a device that requests information from the mobile devices and a device that provides a service to the one or more users within range of the service-providing device. A local taxonomy is generated and evolved based on the dynamics of the local community of individuals (i.e. as individuals enter and exit the range of the system), and the service(s) provided is adapted as the local taxonomy changes.
Abstract: A display device includes a display unit and a display controller. The display unit displays a screen including a displayed item. When the displayed item is moved toward a designated position on the screen, when designation of the moving is terminated in a state where the displayed item and the designated position are separated by a distance longer than a predetermined distance, the display controller continuously displays the screen until the displayed item and the designated position at a time of terminating the designation come within the predetermined distance, or displays a setting screen about setting based on an operation by an operator.
Abstract: Methods, Apparatus, Devices and Systems herein load a firing distance into a distance counter of a printing device. The firing distance is the distance from the current position of a printhead of the printing device to a marking location on a substrate and the distance is calculated based on an angular encoder operatively associated with a roller used to transport a marking media to the printhead for marking. These devices and methods count the firing distance in angular distance increments as a function of the encoder angular position to correct for encoder roller runout using the distance counter, based on relative movement of the substrate and printhead. When the distance counter reaches the last discrete distance increment corrected for encoder roller runout of the firing distance, these devices and methods load the fractional remaining distance of the firing distance into a time counter of the printing device.

Abstract: A cap is positioned to contact a printhead when the printhead is not ejecting liquid ink. The cap and the printhead create a sealed space adjacent printhead nozzles when contacting each other. A heated evaporator is connected to the cap and is adapted to evaporate an ink-compatible liquid to form a water and/or solvent vapor and supply the water and/or solvent vapor to the sealed space to protect the liquid ink in the nozzles. An insulator thermally insulates the heated evaporator from the printhead. This prevents the ink in the nozzles from drying and prevents the nozzles from clogging.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a fixing device that fixes an image to a recording medium that is transported by applying heat; a guide member including a first guide surface that guides the recording medium to which the image has been fixed by the fixing device, a second guide surface that is opposite to the first guide surface and that guides the recording medium that is transported backward after being guided by the first guide surface, and a communicating portion that enables air to flow between the first guide surface and the second guide surface; and plural suction members that cool the recording medium guided by the first guide surface by sucking air in a direction toward the second guide surface of the guide member, the suction members being arranged in a transporting direction in which the recording medium is transported.
Abstract: The disclosure discloses methods and systems for intelligent copying of bound documents. The method includes receiving a selection of copying a bound document via a user interface. The user interface is presented to the user to input whether a starting page of the bound document for copying is a left-side page or a right-side page. Then, multiple pages of the bound document are scanned to generate corresponding scanned images. Finally, the generated scanned images are arranged in the same order as per the arrangement of pages in the original bound document.
Abstract: A method for creating a consolidated work-flow on a multi-function device (MFD) is disclosed. For example, the method is executed by a processor and includes monitoring user interactions with the MFD, determining that an interaction threshold is exceeded, creating the consolidated work-flow for a particular user interaction with the MFD, and creating a short-cut associated with the consolidated work-flow, wherein the short-cut is to be displayed on a user interface (UI) of the MFD, wherein the consolidated work-flow is executed when the short-cut is selected.
