Abstract: A flexible imaging member comprising a slippery charge transport layer including a novel low surface energy polymer binder and a charge transport compound in the layer. In specific embodiments, the novel low surface energy polymer binder in the charge transport layer is a bisphenol A polycarbonate containing short polysiloxane segments present in the polycarbonate backbone—thus eliminating the light scattering effect to render optical clarity—and the charge transport compound is a diamine hole transporting species. The imaging member does include an anticurl back coating to maintain flatness.

  • Patent number: 8005390
Abstract: A method creates a printing image charge on a photoreceptor printing region of a photoreceptor within a printing apparatus and, simultaneously with the creating of the printing image charge, charges source patches on the photoreceptor outside the photoreceptor printing region. The method then transfers developer material from a donor roll to the photoreceptor. The source patches cause developer material to be removed from areas of the donor roll outside a donor roll printing region to create developer material-depleted regions. The method then reloads the donor roll with developer material using a magnetic brush and evaluates a reload function of the donor roll by characteristics of developer material on target patches with developer material in areas of the non-printing region of the photoreceptor adjacent the target patches. The method then alters the printing image charge to maintain the reload function within a predetermined range.

  • Patent number: 8004551
Abstract: In a color marking assembly, a series of ROS units are aligned above a photoconductive surface. These units have inboard and outboard mounts connecting them to this assembly. The inboard mounts are attached to a first side of the ROS, and the outboard mounts are attached to a second side of the ROS unit. The inboard mount is an elongated bar extending beyond the height of the ROS unit. This elongated bar has hinged portions on both its top and bottom connections to the ROS unit. The outboard mount has a ball bearing or sphere configuration. This configuration and the inboard mount enable the ROS unit to be easily deskewed when required.

  • Patent number: 8005385
Abstract: A system is provided that determines the amount of toner on a photo receptor in a xerographic operation. A photo receptor is charged in one or more locations to create an image. A developer places a patch of a predetermined amount of toner onto the one or more charge locations of the photo receptor. A light emitting diode projects light onto the photo receptor, wherein the intensity of the light varies based on the voltage provided to the LED. An optical reflective sensor measures the reflectance of the toner placed on the photo receptor, the amount of reflectance of the toner is related in a known way to the intensity of the LED. A direct relationship between LED intensity and the reflectance of the toner allow for accurate extrapolation at LED intensities greater than the point of saturation.

  • Patent number: 8005833
Abstract: Demographic information of an Internet user is predicted based on an analysis of accessed web pages. Web pages accessed by the Internet user are detected and mapped to a user path vector which is converted to a normalized weighted user path vector. A centroid vector identifies web page access patterns of users with a shared user profile attribute. The user profile attribute is assigned to the Internet user based on a comparison of the vectors. Bias values are also assigned to a set of web pages and a user profile attribute can be predicted for an Internet user based on the bias values of web pages accessed by the user. User attributes can also be predicted based on the results of an expectation maximization process. Demographic information can be predicted based on the combined results of a vector comparison, bias determination, or expectation maximization process.
