  • Publication number: 20110200256
Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for mark recognition in an image of an original document are provided. The method/system takes as input an image of an original document in which at least one designated field is provided for accepting a mark applied by a user (which may or may not have been marked). A region of interest (RoI) is extracted from the image, roughly corresponding to the designated field. A center of gravity (CoG) of the RoI is determined, based on a distribution of black pixels in the RoI. Thereafter, for one or more iterations, the RoI is partitioned into sub-RoIs, based on the determined CoG, where at a subsequent iteration, sub-RoIs generated at the prior iteration serve as the RoI partitioned. Data is extracted from the RoI and sub-RoIs at one or more of the iterations, which allows a representation of the entire RoI to be generated which is useful in classifying the designated field, e.g., as positive (marked) or negative (not marked).

  • Publication number: 20110199595
Abstract: Systems and methods of lenticular printing are disclosed. The systems and methods include an imaging device to process a lenticular image from two or more original images interlaced together. A printer of the imaging device prints the lenticular image on a substrate. A UV-cured gel deposition system of the imaging device is configured to deposit a UV-cured gel on the printed lenticular image to serve as a lenticular lens. The printing of the lenticular image and the depositing of the lenticular lens occurs concurrently to reduce the amount of manufacturing required to produce the lenticular device.

  • Patent number: 8000956
Abstract: A computer implemented system and method for processing text are disclosed. Partially processed text, in which named entities have been extracted by a standard named entity system, is processed to identify attributive relations between a named entity or proper noun and a corresponding attribute. A concept for the attribute is identified and, in the case of a named entity, compared with the named entity's context, enabling a confirmation or conflict between the two to be determined. In the case of a proper name, the attribute's context can be associated with the proper name, allowing the proper name to be recognized as a new named entity.
