Abstract: An image reading device which performs an original reading processing in a push scan mode in which image data read from an original document is output to an output destination terminal through a network, and which includes a judging unit that judges whether or not the image data can be output to the output destination terminal, and an image reading unit that cancels the original reading operation when it is judged by the judging unit that the output is impossible.
Abstract: A document processing apparatus performs plural types of processings for a document. The apparatus includes a control unit and a storage unit. The control unit receives an instruction group including a plurality of instructions of performing respective processings for a certain document. The storage unit stores: (i) plural pieces of individual processing result information indicating results of the plurality of processings for the certain document, respectively; and (ii) overall processing result information indicating a result of the overall instruction group.
Abstract: An image formation apparatus which includes a reader-writer that carries out reading of data from a storage medium provided for paper and writing of data to the storage medium provided for the paper, a document data acquisition section that acquires original document data to be printed on the paper, a determination section that determines whether the paper has the storage medium, and a printing out section that, when it is determined that the paper does not have the storage medium, carries out ordinary printing on the paper on the basis of the original document data, and when it is determined that the paper has the storage medium, carries out printing an image corresponding to the original document data on the paper on the basis of the original document data, and carries out writing and outputting of the original document data to the storage medium provided for the paper.
Abstract: An image forming apparatus having a communication interface receives image data through the communication interface to form an image. The image forming apparatus includes a power supply unit, a states monitor unit, and a mode switch unit. The power supply unit supplies electric power either in an operation mode in which the electric power necessary to form the image is supplied or in a power saving mode in which stand-by electric power is supplied. The states monitor unit monitors a connection state and a non-connection state of the communication interface. In the power saving mode, the mode switch unit switches the power supply unit to the operation mode, in response to detection by the states monitor unit of either of a change from the non-connection state to the connection state or a change from the connection state to the non-connection state.
Abstract: Curable monomer that is liquid at 25° C., curable wax and colorant together from a radiation curable ink. This ink may be used to form images by providing the radiation curable ink at a first temperature; applying the radiation curable ink to the substrate to form an image, the substrate being at a second temperature, which is below the first temperature; and exposing the radiation curable ink to radiation to cure the ink.

Abstract: What is disclosed is a case-based method which specifies previously created documents as cases in a case base, and provides a generalized method for using these previous documents to create a new desired document. The new problem (i.e., the document you are trying to create) is expressed, using any/all case features (e.g., new problem constraints, creator intent, document-genre, etc.). A matching process is performed in order to retrieve documents similar to the desired document from the case base. A selection process chooses one or several of the best matching cases as starting points for creating the new document. The retrieved document(s) are then adapted to create the new desired document. This new document is optionally stored back into the case base as a new case.
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a latent-image carrier, a developing unit, a transfer unit, a cleaning unit, a recovered-toner supply unit, and a foreign-matter collecting unit. The developing unit carries a developer containing a toner and develops an electrostatic latent image on the latent-image carrier with the toner. The transfer unit transfers the toner developed on the latent-image carrier to a recording material directly or via an intermediate transfer body. The cleaning unit removes a toner remaining on at least one of the latent-image carrier and the intermediate transfer medium after the transfer. The recovered-toner supply unit supplies a toner removed by the cleaning unit to the developing unit again. The foreign-matter collecting unit collects a foreign matter, which is mixed into the toner supplied from the recovered-toner supply unit and moved onto the latent-image carrier by the developing unit, before the transfer by the transfer unit.
Abstract: An offset printing apparatus having a coated imaging member for use with phase-change inks, has a substrate, an optional intermediate layer, and thereover an outer coating having an elastomer of monomers selected from the group consisting of halogenated monomers, polyorganosiloxane monomers, and mixtures thereof, and an optional heating member associated with the offset printing apparatus
