  • Patent number: 7010640
Abstract: In a CPU, a FET is turned off and power is not supplied to a power supply element of a transceiver for a period of time until predetermined initialization processing, which is implemented in a peripheral device when power is supplied via a cable from a host PC, has been concluded (i.e., a period of time until it becomes possible for the peripheral device to initiate data communication with the host PC). Thus, even if the peripheral device and the host PC are physically connected by a cable, data signals transmitted along signal lines are not relayed by the transceiver to a logic controller, whereby it in effect becomes possible to set the peripheral device in a pseudo-non-connected state with respect to the host PC.

  • Patent number: 7009735
Abstract: A method for performing black trapping and under print processing on image data from a raster image processing (RIP) frame buffer is provided. The image data includes pixel data according to a predetermined color space (e.g., RGB) and may include black rendering hints. If black rendering hints are not included, the method includes steps to determine if each pixel from the frame buffer is black or black with respect to predetermined thresholds. Three further embodiments of the method are provided in regard to CMY under print values for a black pixel when all pixels of a context window surrounding the black pixel are black. One embodiment provides no CMY under print. Another embodiment provides a predefined CMY under print. Still another embodiment provides an adaptive CMY under print based on the last saved CMY under print value.

  • Patent number: 7010746
Abstract: What is disclosed is a system and method for specifying a custom document as a constraint satisfaction problem (CSP) to create the specified document using existing constraint solving algorithms wherein the document, its content components, and its layout requirements as elements of a constraint satisfaction problem which when solved, results in an automated document layout for the set of content components. This enables an easier (i.e., automated) custom document creation process while providing a wider array of output documents.

  • Patent number: 7010476
Abstract: A system constructs finite-state networks. The system initially compiles an intermediate finite-state network from a source file of regular expressions. The intermediate finite-state network includes a delimited subpath that defines a substring having the form of a regular expression. The system subsequently produces an output finite-state network in which the delimited subpath is replaced with an FSN compiled from the substring encoded by the delimited subpath.

  • Patent number: 7009739
Abstract: A continuously variable screening tool is used to generate a unique texture pattern for every color in a multicolor image. The continuously variable screening tool allows a single colorant version of the image to be generated with less information loss than typically suffered in the multicolor to single color transformation process. The continuously variable screening tool is generated by blending patterns from a set of reference screens. The reference screens are associated with selected reference colors in, for example, a machine independent color space. A calculated screen is generated through a weighted blend of reference screens located near the arbitrary color in the machine independent color space. Typically, the weights depend on the distance the arbitrary color is from each of the reference colors. The screens consist of arrays of threshold values. Each threshold value is associated with a dot position and an image pixel.

  • Patent number: 7009719
Abstract: Informing the user when consumables and/or customer replaceable units will have to be resupplied, changed and/or replaced, relative to the jobs sent to the image forming system, is a beneficial way to avoid unnecessary printing delays. When a job is added to a job queue or repositioned within the job queue, a warning can be associated with that job, and displayed to the user. With this information, the user can pre-emptively add a consumable and/or to replace a customer replaceable unit to avoid delays and maintain productivity. Alternatively, if such a system fault would occur prior to an urgent job reaching the top of the job queue, the user can manipulate the order and/or presence of the various jobs in the queue to ensure the high-priority job is completed before the consumable is fully exhausted and/or the customer replaceable unit reaches the end of its useful life.

  • Patent number: 7010171
Abstract: An imaging apparatus receives a stream of image data compressed according to a token based compression algorithm. The token dictionary is decompressed and processed according to desired standards such as optimizing for a particular image output device. After revision, the revised tokens are stored in a revised dictionary which is accessed upon decompression of image content. When the image content is decompressed the locations in the compressed or coded input data stream refer to locations in the revised dictionary which are extracted and output either to hard copy or for further processing.
