  • Patent number: 7006247
Abstract: There is provided an image processing apparatus where in an additional image storage unit 3, a color additional image is stored into a color image storage unit 4, and a black/white additional image is stored into a black/white image storage unit 5. A color judging unit 2 judges as to whether an input image corresponds to a color image, or a black/white image every page thereof. Based upon the judgment result of the color judging unit 2, an image synthesizing unit 6 adds the color additional image stored in the color image storage unit 4 to the input image when the input image is the color image, and adds the black/white additional image stored in the black/white image storage unit 5 in the input image when the input image is the black/white image. Then, the image synthesizing unit 6 outputs the resulting image synthesized with the additional image.

  • Patent number: 7006720
Abstract: A MEMS system including a fixed electrode and a suspended moveable electrode that is controllable over a wide range of motion. In traditional systems where an fixed electrode is positioned under the moveable electrode, the range of motion is limited because the support structure supporting the moveable electrode becomes unstable when the moveable electrode moves too close to the fixed electrode. By repositioning the fixed electrode from being directly underneath the moving electrode, a much wider range of controllable motion is achievable. Wide ranges of controllable motion are particularly important in optical switching applications.

  • Patent number: 7006256
Abstract: A watermarked image generator includes a watermark data source that inputs watermark data to a watermark embedding device. The watermark embedding device halftones the input image to generate the output image made of 2×2 binary patterns, the 2×2 binary patterns forming the watermarks embedded in the output image. The watermark embedding device includes a tri-level error diffusion generator that performs tri-level error diffusion on the input image by halftoning the input image into black, white and 50% gray. A plurality of halftoning circuits successively replace each pixel of the halftoned input image with one of a plurality of the 2×2 binary patterns. The one of the plurality of 2×2 binary patterns corresponds to at least one respective bit of the watermark data when a pixel of the halftoned image data is 50% gray. The watermark data can be segmentation map data of the input image.

  • Patent number: 7002709
Abstract: The reproduction of a copy inhibit image and the abuse of data through a network are to be prevented without sacrificing various page editing functions. An image read unit scans an original placed on an original carrying table and thereby generates RGB color image signals of multi-value. An image processing unit performs various image processing and, upon detection of a copy inhibit original, performs image working for preventing faithful reproduction of the copy inhibit original. An image storing unit temporarily stores page by page original images provided from the image processing unit. If a copy inhibit image is contained in the original images, the image working is performed by the image processing unit to prevent faithful reproduction and the images after the image working are stored in the image storing unit. An image output unit performs a printing operation in accordance with image data outputted from the image processing unit.

  • Patent number: 7000315
Abstract: An out-of-plane micro-structure which can be used for on-chip integration of high-Q inductors and transformers places the magnetic field direction parallel to the substrate plane without requiring high aspect ratio processing. The photolithographically patterned coil structure includes an elastic member having an intrinsic stress profile. The intrinsic stress profile biases a free portion away from the substrate forming a loop winding. An anchor portion remains fixed to the substrate. The free portion end becomes a second anchor portion which may be connected to the substrate via soldering or plating. A series of individual coil structures can be joined via their anchor portions to form inductors and transformers.

  • Patent number: 7002729
Abstract: A back board has a spacing member having elasticity larger than that of a spacing member formed on a display board, and the spacing member of the back board is joined with the spacing member formed on the display board. Cells are formed between the display board and the back board, and black particles and white particles which are moved by an applied electric field are sealed into the cells. Even when there is variance in heights of the spacing members on the display board and the back board, the spacing member on the back board side is elastically deformed so as to absorb the variance. As a result, the spacing member on the display board is brought into close contact with the spacing member on the back board with certainty, so that the particles sealed into the cells can be prevented from moving between the cells.
