Abstract: A developing device for electrophotographic image has a developing mechanism having a developer carrier for carrying a developer along a preset circulating route including a developing area and a developer restricting element for restricting the developer on the developer carrier, and a developer supply mechanism having a storing unit. The storing unit is filled with a start-up developer in the vicinity of the developer carrier and a replenishing developer remoter than the start-up developer from the developer carrier. The start-up developer and the replenishing developer have different grain sizes or grain size distributions. Further, a developing method for electrophotograhic image has the steps of using the start-up developer at an initial state of use of the developing mechanism, and using the replenishing developer differed in grain size or grain size distribution from the start-up developer after an end of the initial state of use of the developing mechanism.
Abstract: In a device of the present invention for allowing signal light to enter a light guide body using an optical fiber, a light guide body, which is constituted by dispersing particles for scattering the signal light in an optical medium, is selected as a light guide path which requires an area where a light diffusing function is performed just after incidence of the signal light. An optical connecting material intervenes between one end of the optical fiber from which the signal light is output and opposed one end surface of a particle dispersing light guide body and a desired diffusing function is obtained.

Abstract: An information system having a computer readable medium including a flexible data structure is provided. The data structure allows information entered into the data structure to be embellished or qualified. The flexible data structure increases the ability of the data structure to record exceptional information pertinent to specific circumstances. The flexible data structure also enables database access software to respond to user queries in a more effective and informative manner.
Abstract: Defects in an image forming system may give rise to visible streaks, or one-dimensional defects in an image that run parallel to the process direction. One known method for compensating for streaks introduces a separate tone reproduction curve for each pixel column in the process direction. A compensation pattern according to this invention has a plurality of halftone regions that are lead by, trained by, and separated by rows of fiducial marks. The fiducial marks allow the printer pixel grid and a scanning pixel grid to be correlated. The gray level in each pixel column of each gray level portion is measured and analyzed to produce a local tone reproduction curve for each pixel column and associated line width. The local tone reproduction curves are then used to compensate for the streak defect when printing.

Abstract: A common electrode and a signal electrode are separately formed on two major faces of each of tabular piezoelectric actuator elements arrayed on a substrate. On a flexible printed circuit board, formed are electric bonding pads, which are to be electrically connected with the substrate of the actuator elements. A semi-spherical bump including a conductive core and a conductive sealant is formed on each of pads. The actuator elements having substrate is made to face the flexible printed circuit board, and heated under pressure to thereby electrically bond the signal electrodes (at their electric bonding area) to the corresponding bumps. Thus bonded, there exists a gap around the core, and it allows the actuator area of the signal electrode to act completely free, not interfered with any other.
Abstract: By using monitoring data, feedback data, and pooling of failure data from a plurality of electronic devices, real-time failure prediction and diagnoses of electronic systems operating in a network environment can be achieved. First, the diagnostic system requests data on the state of a machine and/or its components and collections thereof as part of the machine's normal operation. Secondly, real-time processing of the data either at the machine site or elsewhere in the distributed network allows for predicting or diagnosing system failures. Having determined and/or predicted a system failure, a communication to one or more remote observers in the network allows the remote observers to view the diagnostic information and/or required action to repair the failure.

Abstract: A particle filling line comprises a vertical conduit that is arranged to dispense particles to one or more containers that are disposed on an included movable conveyor belt. The conduit includes a conduit hollow, a conduit top and a conduit bottom that defines an outlet. Particles supplied to the conduit top flow through the outlet to fill the containers. The conduit is filled with particles. The particles include a particle spacing air. The particle spacing air is reduced by means of a porous tube that is fixed in the conduit hollow and coupled to a vacuum source. After reducing the particle spacing air, the particles flow through the outlet to be received in the containers.
Abstract: A MEMS system including a fixed electrode and a suspended moveable electrode that is controllable over a wide range of motion. In traditional systems where an fixed electrode is positioned under the moveable electrode, the range of motion is limited because the support structure supporting the moveable electrode becomes unstable when the moveable electrode moves too close to the fixed electrode. By repositioning the fixed electrode from being directly underneath the moving electrode, a much wider range of controllable motion is achievable. Wide ranges of controllable motion are particularly important in optical switching applications.

Abstract: A printer with reduced required space for printbar substrates in a printhead is disclosed. A first printbar has of a plurality of first die modules, for applying a first color, spaced apart so as to have gaps between each die module and located on a top surface of a first substrate. A second printbar has of a plurality of second die modules, for applying a second color, different for the first color, spaced apart so as to have gaps between each die module and located on a bottom surface of the first substrate. A third printbar for applying the first color and a fourth printbar for applying the second color, both have die modules, spaced apart on a top surface and a bottom surface of a second substrate, that correspond with the gaps on the top surface and the bottom surface of the first substrate, respectively.

Abstract: A release layer is formed on a substrate, and plural thin-film patterns are formed on the release layer. The release layer is etched back at a prescribed depth at least in regions close to the circumferences of the thin-film patterns. The thin-film patterns are transferred sequentially to a counter substrate to be laminated on the counter substrate and to thereby form a micro structure. This manufacturing method is employed in a case that the combination of thin-film patterns and are lease layer is such that when a prescribed pressure is applied to each of the thin-film patterns on the release layer in the transferring, the height of a raised portion of the release layer that would be appeared in a region close to the circumference of the thin-film pattern if the release layer were not be etched back is greater than or equal to the thickness of the thin-film pattern.
