    Abstract: This invention relates to a method and apparatus for processing images having color combinations. Such combinations may be embodied in, for example, a black object being printed within a color object or in a black object that includes drops of process color within the object. In these circumstances, undesired image artifacts and halos are eliminated in images that include black portions that are adjacent color portions, and/or improved printed edges are created, by offsetting the corresponding black pixels relative to the color pixels and etching preselected pixels from the image before printing.

    Abstract: A bus communication system capable of determining an order of priorities based on IDs of transmitting nodes is provided. A communication unit writes its own node ID as a transmitting node ID into an arbitration field of a message packet that is to be transmitted from the communication unit to a bus, writes a node ID of a destination node into an auxiliary field defined at a predetermined location in the message packet, and transmits the message packet to the bus. A control unit rewrites the message packet transmitted from the communication unit by replacing the node ID written in the arbitration field with the node ID written in the auxiliary field, and transmits the rewritten message packet to the bus. Another communication unit, or the destination node, receives the message packet existing on the bus based on a match between its own node ID and the node ID indicated in the arbitration field rewritten by the control unit.

The first color correction conversion unit carries out color conversion based on the color temperature information of the electronic document so that a recorded product output from an output device assumes substantially the same color as the electronic document when it is observed under an illumination light source having a color temperature indicated by the color temperature information of the electronic document. An image is formed by the output device based on the color converted image signal to output the recorded product.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for generating translations of natural language terms from a first language to a second language. A plurality of terms are extracted from unaligned comparable corpora of the first and second languages. Comparable corpora are sets of documents in different languages that come from the same domain and have similar genre and content. Unaligned documents are not translations of one another and are not linked in any other way. By accessing monolingual thesauri of the first and second languages, a category is assigned to each extracted term. Then, category-to-category translation probabilities are estimated, and using said category-to-category translation probabilities, term-to-term translation probabilities are estimated. The invention preferably exploits class-based normalization of probability estimates, bi-directionality, and relative frequency normalization.

    Abstract: A diptank applies coating solution to devices that are dipped therein. A reservoir tank contains a reservoir of coating solution. The diptank forms a coating solution overflow return that flows to the reservoir by means of a conduit and a self-adjusting return line. The self-adjusting return line comprises a plastic tubing with an upper portion, a central portion and a lower portion. The upper portion is coupled to the conduit. The tubing central portion is flexible and corrugated and arranged to extend and compress in its length. The lower portion is supported by an attached buoy that floats on the surface of the reservoir. The lower portion defines an outlet that discharges the coating solution overflow return to the reservoir. As a result, the coating solution overflow return is discharged to the reservoir at a fixed vertical distance or level with respect to the surface of the reservoir.

In computing the measure of similarity, a first list of rated keywords extracted from the first document and a second list of rated keywords extracted from the second document are received. A second percentage is computed that indicates what percentage of keyword ratings along with a set of their neighboring keyword ratings in the first list that also exist in the second list when the first percentage indicates that the first document is included in the second document.
