Abstract: There are provided a sheet inlet, a saddle-stitch compilation tray for aligning and accommodating plural sheets that are input through the sheet inlet, and a rotary cutter unit for cutting a saddle-stitched sheaf of sheets accommodated in the saddle-stitch compilation tray. In the rotary cutter unit, a sheaf of sheets is cut by moving a circular blade in a direction perpendicular to a sheet transport direction of a sheet transport path from one end in the direction perpendicular to the sheet transport direction. Different sheaves of sheets may be cut by a go-movement and a return-movement of the circular blade.

  • Publication number: 20040169715
Abstract: A mirror mount adjusts the curvature of a cylindrical mirror along the optical axis of the mirror, typically the wobble correction mirror, to adjust the scanline bow for an optical scanner. By adjusting the curvature in the mirror mount of the cylindrical axis of the mirror in the plane parallel to the mirror, the scanline bows among multiple ROS's can be approximately equalized. A mirror mount has two fixed abutments on the upper edge of the cylindrical mirror and two moveable abutment points along the lower edge of the mirror. The mirror mount adjusts the curvature of the cylindrical mirror vertically for a horizontal beam to adjust the scanline bow for a single beam and approximately equalize the scanline bow for multiple. ROS units in the printing system. During the bow adjustment the cross sectional shape of the cylindrical mirror is maintained so that the cross scan spotsize is maintained during the adjustment.

  • Publication number: 20040172586
Abstract: Methods for controlling a document service request involve defining a document service request workflow and redirecting document service requests from the mobile device. In one embodiment, through a short-range connection with a document processing device on a foreign network, a mobile device establishes a secure connection to the mobile device's native network to identify a document stored on a file server operating thereon. Once a document is identified, the mobile device over the secure connection initiates a document service request by requesting an output server operating on the native network to retrieve and convert the identified document into an output-ready format suitable for the document processing device. Upon receipt of the output-ready document, the mobile device resends the output-ready document over a local connection to the document processing device to carry out the document service request.

  • Publication number: 20040169873
Abstract: A method and system for image scanning presents a user with a suggested parameter adjustment to a scanned image upon system analysis of corresponding scanned image data. A scanner generates initial preview image data of the scanned image. A display displays the image to the user from the initial preview image data. A processor detects a selected portion of the preview image data as having a likelihood of being a standard parameter and for determining a suggested adjustment to the initial preview image data for displaying the selected portion as the standard parameter within the displayed image. The suggested adjustment is communicated to the user and the user implements or overrides the suggested adjustment in a subsequent scan of the image, whereby the user may obtain desired image data for the subsequent scan and the suggested adjustment.

Abstract: A method for maintaining developer material within in a predefined state through the scheduling of increased toner throughput coordinated among multiple developer housings. The method monitors developer material health at each developer station within a plurality of developer stations to detect unhealthy developer material. If unhealthy developer material is detected in at least one of developer stations, a toner purge state is identified for each of the remaining developer stations. Based on the toner purge states, a toner purge is performed.

  • Patent number: 6783207
Abstract: Opposing piezoelectric elements bordering a boundary between neighboring nozzle groups have point symmetry. Hence, even if a gap is opened up between actuator units due to necessity in assembly, rows of the nozzles are not offset. Accordingly, even a series of nozzle groups are combined in a conveyance direction of a recording medium, width of an inkjet recording head is not increased. Further, because the rows of nozzles are not offset, there is no requirement to offset discharge timings for each actuator unit, and output of image data does not become complex. Thus, lengthening can basically be implemented with two piezoelectric plates. Consequently, production yields can be improved.

  • Patent number: 6783069
Abstract: A mouse incorporating a camera captures an image of embedded data from a substrate under the mouse. The embedded data in the image is decoded to determine address or location information coded in the embedded data. Based on the decoded information and other user input signals, such as mouse button selection signals, the computer executes operations. The mouse also has a display controlled by the computer for providing visual feedback to a user. The display might generate an image of the substrate area under the mouse, making it appear to the user as if they are looking through the mouse directly onto the substrate. The display may also generate visual feedback regarding operations occurring in the computer, such as selection or other computer operations.

  • Patent number: 6783026
Abstract: An articulated flag body member permitting bi-directional passage of an object. The articulated flag body member has a flag body pivotably connected to a flag foot. As rotation of the flag foot occurs in one direction, the flag body rotates by engagement of a recess of the flag foot with a stop member extending along a projecting leg of the flag body. As the flag body rotates, a notch at the upper portion of the flag body changes positions such that light, or other signals, may no longer pass through the notch. Thus, positional indication of an object detected by rotation of the flag body. As rotation of the flag foot occurs in an opposite direction, an object may be extricated or removed.

  • Patent number: 6783200
Abstract: The present invention provides an ink jet recording apparatus which can prevent problems such as image defects caused by shortage of ink, and decreases in the printing speed from occurring. When execution of a print job is instructed, a printing processing for the print job is started. The number of pixels which have been actually printed is added to a current pixel count C1, and it is determined whether or not the print job is finished. When it is determined that the print job is finished and the pixel count C1 exceeds a predetermined number of pixels X1, an ink supply unit is controlled so that ink of a predetermined proportion A (%) of the amount of ink used, which amount corresponds to the pixel count C1, is supplied to a sub-ink tank.
