  • Patent number: 6783200
Abstract: The present invention provides an ink jet recording apparatus which can prevent problems such as image defects caused by shortage of ink, and decreases in the printing speed from occurring. When execution of a print job is instructed, a printing processing for the print job is started. The number of pixels which have been actually printed is added to a current pixel count C1, and it is determined whether or not the print job is finished. When it is determined that the print job is finished and the pixel count C1 exceeds a predetermined number of pixels X1, an ink supply unit is controlled so that ink of a predetermined proportion A (%) of the amount of ink used, which amount corresponds to the pixel count C1, is supplied to a sub-ink tank.

  • Patent number: 6783207
Abstract: Opposing piezoelectric elements bordering a boundary between neighboring nozzle groups have point symmetry. Hence, even if a gap is opened up between actuator units due to necessity in assembly, rows of the nozzles are not offset. Accordingly, even a series of nozzle groups are combined in a conveyance direction of a recording medium, width of an inkjet recording head is not increased. Further, because the rows of nozzles are not offset, there is no requirement to offset discharge timings for each actuator unit, and output of image data does not become complex. Thus, lengthening can basically be implemented with two piezoelectric plates. Consequently, production yields can be improved.

  • Publication number: 20040164229
Abstract: An architecture and manufacturing method for photosensitive chips, such as used in office equipment and digital cameras, involves creating grooves between chip areas in a wafer, and then placing a light-transmissive planar layer over the main surface of the wafer. The planar layer, which may be acrylic-based, creates a substantially planar surface over both the photosites in the chip areas and the grooves. The planar layer in turn supports one or more light-transmissive filtering layers. The arrangement avoids damage to the filtering layers when the wafer is diced along the grooves.

Abstract: A method includes forming a plurality of test patches in an array of orthogonal rows. The test patches are formed by using at least one printhead in an imaging machine. Each of the test patches is associated with a respective one of a plurality of initial input color values. The array of test patches includes a plurality of rows of varied-input test patches and at least one row of first equivalent-input test patches. A respective output color value of each of the test patches is measured. At least one first mathematical relationship is generated based on the output color values of the at least one row of first equivalent-input test patches. A plurality of adjusted input color values are calculated for respective ones of the varied-input test patches. Each adjusted input color value is calculated based upon the generated at least one first mathematical relationship. A second mathematical relationship is computed between the adjusted input color values and the output color values.

  • Patent number: 6779861
Abstract: An ink jet printer includes a printhead and a print medium that move relative to one another in a printing direction. The printhead includes a plurality of ink delivery channels, and an ink outlet corresponding to each of the ink delivery channels. Each ink outlet includes at least two ink orifices offset from one another in a direction transverse to the printing direction, so that as the printhead traverses a print medium, control signals to the printhead can deposit two drops from each delivery channel, which drops are offset in the transverse direction, thereby permitting the use of smaller ink drops and a higher apparent print resolution for the image deposited on the print medium than the resolution of the print control signals in the transverse direction.

  • Patent number: 6782345
Abstract: During the operation of an electronic system, such as a document processing system, machine and job data of the electronic system are collected by a diagnostic system for automated diagnosis or prognosis. Optionally, machine data and population based data are acquired from a database or server. According to one embodiment, the data is analyzed to determine an initial diagnosis of the electronic system. Based on the initial diagnosis, a determination is made whether a remote transmission is needed. If so, the data is sent via a distributed network to a remote diagnostic system for analysis. At least part of the collected machine data may be a signature waveform of a part of the electronic system. In such a case, at least the analysis by the remote diagnostic system includes signature analysis of the waveform. Based on the analysis of the data by the remote diagnostic system, a communication is sent.
