  • Patent number: 6658737
Abstract: An ink jet recording head and a manufacturing method thereof enables no ink electrolysis to be generated, such occurrence of the ink electrolysis is caused by construction or mechanism of respective ink jet recording head using piezoelectric body. Ink channel and dummy channel are formed alternately at the both sides of a side wall of piezoelectric body respectively. There is discharged ink drop while changing volume within the ink channel by applying electric field using electrode formed within respective channels. An electrode formed on respective ink channels is taken as common electrode, while electrodes formed on respective dummy channel are taken as individual electrodes, thus causing no ink to be contacted with a passivation film formed on the individual electrodes.

  • Patent number: 6662270
Abstract: A system and method for enabling implementation-transparent caching of reusable objects in an application program using a language, which may be a page description language, with defined operators is described. A default operator from the language, which supports a set of default caching operations is selected. A set of additional caching operations for use in a specific caching implementation is created. The set of additional caching operations is associated with the defined operator. A key for selecting between the set of default caching operations and the set of additional caching operations is also defined. When the application program is executed, the application program automatically selects the set of default caching operations or the set of additional caching operations based on the value of the key.

  • Patent number: 6659600
Abstract: The present invention provides an inkjet recording head cartridge and an inkjet recording apparatus that have a simple structure and high reliability. Since individual flow passages in which ink emission orifices are formed are communicated directly with a rectangular ink supply chamber, it is prevented that a bubble of such a size as to cause printing defects rises through an ink supply chamber and blocks the individual flow passages. Also, since ink heated within the ink supply chamber is moved upward to the ink tank chamber by convection and grows an air lump sealed beforehand, it is prevented that a bubble will grow in the ink supply chamber. Furthermore, by allocating a large cross-sectional area to the ink supply chamber, it is prevented that meniscus oscillation of the ink emission orifices is amplified by pressure oscillation caused by ink emission and causes a printing defect. Therefore, reliable printing can be performed with a simple construction.

  • Patent number: 6661978
Abstract: A dynamic job recovery system for an electronic reprographic printing system provides warranted performance by monitoring and ensuring variable data job integrity and consistent output appearance through close control of image quality and content integrity. The system monitoring the performance of a particular attribute indicative of one of image quality and variable data content integrity, preferably with real-time control, with one or more warranted performance sensors while in a customer print job mode. If monitored attributes are within desired specification and integrity, processing of the customer print job is continued. A warranted performance fault action is conducted if one or more attributes are out of range. When this occurs, print sheets in progress are purged to a purge tray (those with compromised integrity or quality and upstream incomplete sheets). Then, a diagnostic routine is initialized without machine cycle down to identify sources of the fault.

  • Patent number: 6658728
Abstract: Efficient methods for lithographically fabricating spring structures onto a substrate containing contact pads or metal vias by forming both the spring metal and release material layers using a single mask. Specifically, a pad of release material is self-aligned to the spring metal finger using a photoresist mask or a plated metal pattern, or using lift-off processing techniques. A release mask is then used to release the spring metal finger while retaining a portion of the release material that secures the anchor portion of the spring metal finger to the substrate. When the release material is electrically conductive (e.g., titanium), this release material portion is positioned directly over the contact pad or metal via, and acts as a conduit to the spring metal finger in the completed spring structure. When the release material is non-conductive, a metal strap is formed to connect the spring metal finger to the contact pad/via.

  • Patent number: 6661823
Abstract: A vertical resonator type surface light emitting semiconductor laser device includes a semiconductor substrate having formed thereon a first semiconductor multi-layered film reflection mirror, an active layer, a second semiconductor multi-layered film reflection mirror, and a contact electrode having an opening for emitting laser light. The opening is covered with a protective film for preventing damage during fabrication after the contact electrode has been formed. Or, the protective film is provided on the second semiconductor multi-layered film reflection mirror so that the contact electrode is superimposed on the surface of the protective film, and the opening is formed on the protective layer. In this way, there is provided a vertical resonator type surface light emitting semiconductor laser device having high reliability, capable of stably producing laser light with a low resistance and a high output, which output does not decrease over time.

  • Patent number: 6661989
Abstract: In a fusing apparatus, such as used in xerography, two rolls form a nip therebetween. A guide member is positionable to direct a sheet approaching the nip to enter the nip at an angle so that an arc or buckle is created in the sheet between a marking station and the nip. The arc or buckle is helpful in avoiding the transfer of mechanical energy from the fusing apparatus to the marking station. As the trailing edge of the sheet exits the marking station, the guide member is positioned to straighten the sheet.
