Abstract: The present invention provides an electrophotographic lamination film which can be easily laminated by using the film as it is without significantly modifying a conventional electrophotographic device, can be printed with letters of high resolution directly on a surface of the film capable of softening at relatively low temperatures, and can form an image of high quality having sufficient heat resistance and light resistance with good recognizability even in outdoor use, as well as a method of producing the same and a method of forming an image. In the electrophotographic lamination film, a surface resistance of at least one surface of a substrate thereof is in a range of 108 to 1013 &OHgr;/□, and a Vicat softening temperature of the substrate is in a range of 70 to 130° C.
Abstract: A solid ink stick loader, including a chute having at least one channel for feeding ink sticks, the channel having a bottom and at least one side, wherein the at least one channel has a lower support for the ink sticks such that the ink sticks do not contact a substantial portion of the bottom of the at least one channel, and wherein the bottom of the channel includes at least one debris collecting area.
Abstract: A solid ink loader for feeding solid ink sticks in a phase change ink jet printer, which includes at least one feed channel for receiving of a plurality of ink sticks and at least one key plate for covering the at least one feed channel. The at least one key plate includes a first plate portion having a first insertion opening for admitting the solid ink sticks into the at least one feed channel, and a first guide portion extending into the at least one feed channel from the first plate portion, the first guide portion providing support to the solid ink sticks as they move within the at least one feed channel.
Abstract: A method of editing a digital image having associated embedded data, such as printing hints, includes embedding a first watermark in the original image before the image is edited. The first watermarking scheme associates first watermark information with each pixel and is used to detect which pixels have been edited. A second watermark may be embedded in the original image according to a second watermarking scheme which associates second watermark information with non-overlapping groups of pixels in the original image. The second watermark information may be used to synchronize the first watermark information and to detect editing information which does not change pixel values. After editing, only those edited portions of the image need have their embedded data reapplied.

Abstract: A solid ink loader for feeding colored solid ink sticks in a phase change ink jet printer, wherein the feed system includes at least one feed channel for receiving ink sticks having a first ink stick color, at least one key plate for the at least one feed channel, wherein the at least one key plate has a first insertion opening for admitting the ink sticks having the first color into the at least one feed channel, and wherein the at least one key plate has first ink stick color identification markings corresponding to the first ink stick color.
Abstract: The present invention provides a detection apparatus, an input apparatus, an individual identification apparatus, and a recording medium that utilize information about users' bodies which disables the fraud of impersonating authorized users and is extremely difficult to forge and is obtained without giving the users a sense of inhibitions, without restraining their bodies during use, and independent of their mental states and health. A FIFO memory outputs, as one set of features, a total of 60 voltage values, which are broken down as 20 voltage values sampled every 12.5 ms (80 Hz) before the instant when timing is inputted at the peak position of an amplitude waveform signal generated by one click operation, 39 voltage values sampled every 12.
Abstract: The document reading system passively analyzes a document to generate margin or end notes of references to other documents that relate to annotated passages in the document or to the entire document. The invention is responsive to the annotation of a document to passively generate a query that retrieves documents that have similar content to the annotated passage. The retrieved documents are available to the reader through selectable links placed in the margin near the annotation. Additionally, the invention provides end notes with links to documents that are similar in content to the overall content of the annotated document. The invention assists the reader by passively generating selectable links to related documents to assist the user in relating the new document to previously read material.
Abstract: There is disclosed a printing system, with a memory, and a plurality of document processing related subsystems The printing system, which is adapted to receive a facsimile document via a network, includes a facsimile user profile stored in a memory of the printing system. The facsimile user profile includes one or more attribute sets with each attribute set, along with a corresponding set of attribute values, defining a manner in which a portion of the facsimile document is to be processed at a printing subsystem. The printing system further includes a facsimile processing subsystem for reading the facsimile user profile to determine whether a selected one of the plurality of document processing related subsystems is enabled to process the portion of the facsimile document in accordance with one of the one or more attribute sets if the facsimile user profile.

Abstract: Non Verbal Behaviors (NVBs) are parameterized and selected for using in enhancing communicative abilities of an animated character. A parameter selection device selects the NVBs from a database of NVBs based on selection criteria consistent with a response or action generated by an animated character program. The selected NVBs are modulated based on an emphasis to be placed on the communication, and other factors, such as a personality of the animated character. The modulated NVBs are placed in a data stream of NVBs and other actions and communications, including, for example, language, that is provided to an animation system for display. The processes of the present invention allow for NVBs to be utilized to more effectively engage users of the animated character. The processes of the present invention may be applied in any animated character system including products by Microsoft (Office Assistant, Agent, etc.).
Abstract: A silicon demultiplexer, a plurality of silicon switches and a silicon multiplexer are monolithically integrated on a single silicon chip. In embodiments, the silicon demultiplexer and the silicon multiplexer each comprise a diffraction grating. In other embodiments, the silicon demultiplexer and the silicon multiplexer each comprise an arrayed waveguide grating. In various exemplary embodiments, the silicon optical switches comprise optical switches, micromachined torsion mirrors, electrostatic micromirrors, and/or tilting micromirrors. In use, an optical signal comprising a multiplexed data stream is input into the monolithic reconfigurable optical multiplexer. An optical signal that comprises a modified multiplexed data stream may be output.

Abstract: Identifier tags are embedded in pages of a document. Each of these identifier tags identifies the particular page that a reader is viewing. By correlating the currently read page to information stored memory, dynamic content corresponding to the currently read page can be activated. This dynamic content can include, for example, lighting, sound effects, environmental conditions, or the like.
