  • Patent number: 6528336
Abstract: A method of fabricating and a wafer having a plurality of photosensor Arrays thereon. And, a method of testing the wafer before the wafer is diced and assembled to form a Silicon photosensor Array which may be combined with other like photosensor arrays to form a full page width image sensor bar. The invention allows checking of every V-groove on every chip. An implanted or diffused region is placed across the V-groove, with electrical connections on both ends of the diffusion. If the V-groove is formed, the diffused region will be broken and the electrical path will be open. A deeper diffusion can be also used to check for incomplete V-grooves. If one end of the electrical path is tied to an existing I/O pad on the chip and the other end to ground, this path will have no effect on the input resistance if the V-groove is formed. There will be a small, but acceptable, increase in input capacitance.

  • Patent number: 6529291
Abstract: A color conversion table designed to produce 0% under-color removal and a 100% under-color removal TRC are configured as a matched pair and are used to render an image from fuzzy detected color signals, including providing variable under-color removal to obtain fuzzy black conversion. The output of the color conversion table and the TRC are multiplied by a weighted value which depends on a value of a received neutral tag. The weighted outputs of the color conversion table and TRC are added such that a varying weighted output is generated. The generated output is used in image rendering to produce a smooth transition from a full color to monochrome, where variable amounts of under-color removal are obtained using the color correction table and TRC.

  • Patent number: 6527355
Abstract: A method and apparatus prevents banding defects caused by drop mass variations in an ink jet printer. The ink jet printer uses different pre-pulse sequences for drop ejection depending on print head temperature. Each of the different pre-pulse sequences is associated with a corresponding temperature range. Boundaries between adjacent temperature ranges are separated by critical temperatures. A determination is made as to whether a change in the print head temperature constitutes, or is part of, a temperature change that exceeds a predetermined threshold change amount, prior to determining whether to change the pre-pulse sequence.

  • Patent number: 6528350
Abstract: Efficient methods are disclosed for fabricating metal plated spring structures in which the metal is plated onto the spring structure after release. A conductive release layer is deposited on a substrate and a spring metal layer is then formed thereon. A first mask is then used to form a spring metal finger, but etching is stopped before the release layer is entirely removed. A second mask is then deposited that defines a release window used to remove a portion of the release layer and release a free end of the spring metal finger. The second mask is also used to plate at least some portions of the free end of the finger and selected structures exposed through the second mask. Remaining portions of the release layer are utilized as electrodes during electroplating. The resulting spring structure includes plated metal on both upper and lower surfaces of the finger.

  • Patent number: 6529055
Abstract: A method for calibrating a VCO within a phase locked loop circuit is disclosed. First, a DAC output voltage is set to its minimum, and a counter M is adjusted until a comparator is its threshold voltage. Next, the DAC is set to another voltage, and counter M is again adjusted to the comparator threshold. This process is repeated for as many steps as desired. When the phase locked loop circuit requests an instantaneous frequency, an interpolation of the requested frequency against the curve created by the above-described method gives the value required by the DAC.
