Patent number: 6529616Abstract: A special test pattern and image quality analysis system and process for evaluating the test pattern are provided to accurately measure color-color registration in an image output device that prints in CMYK color. The process is robust even when using relatively low-resolution CCD-based scanners and also is unique in that the process automatically factors out errors originating from skew between the detector and the subject of measurement. Further, registration of each of C, M, and Y relative to K are independently determined. The test pattern includes an upper part and a lower part, with both the upper and lower parts having a black K component and the upper part also including color components for C, M and Y. The system and method have potential for being built in to color printers or copiers to allow measurement of color misregistration within the paper path and automatically correct for color registration errors.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1999Date of Patent: March 4, 2003Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: D. Publication number: 20030038958Abstract: In a digital printing system, such as including one or more printers connected to a host computer via a network, it is occasionally desired to download software for new fonts to the printers. In many cases, different printers support different “font types” or “font formats,” meaning different encoding methods for the font software. The various printers on the network are queried by remotely querying the MIB associated with each printer, to determine what font type is supported by each printer. When the font software is downloaded, where necessary for a particular printer, the original font software is converted to be supportable by the printer.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 27, 2001Publication date: February 27, 2003Applicant: Xerox Corporation.Inventors: David L. Publication number: 20030039791Abstract: An intermediate transfer belt includes a seam that is finished using a finishing machine. The intermediate transfer belt comprises a belt outer surface and a belt inner surface. The seam comprises a seam outer surface of a seam width with adhesive material disposed thereon. The finishing process includes a finishing media with a finishing surface and a backer bar. The backer bar comprises a backer bar radius and a backer bar surface with a backer surface curvature based on the backer bar radius. The backer bar surface is positioned against the belt inner surface so that the belt outer surface contacts the finishing surface to define a finishing contact arc with respect to the backer bar radius. A tension, feed rate and pressure are applied to the finishing media. The backer bar radius is then adjusted so that the finishing contact arc covers the seam width. Using the finishing machine, the seam is then finished to remove the adhesive material.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 9, 2002Publication date: February 27, 2003Applicant: Xerox CorporationInventors: Paul F.
