Abstract: A process for removing N-(phosphonomethylglycine) (glyphosate) or a salt or ionic form thereof from an aqueous mixture in which it is present, wherein the aqueous mixture is an effluent from a glyphosate manufacturing process, the process comprising adding to the mixture of ions capable of forming an insoluble or partially soluble complex glyphosate salt, and removing the complex salt from the mixture. An additional process permits recovery of glyphosate from the precipitate of complex salts by a process comprising forming an aqueous slurry of the precipitate having a pH greater than 8 and removing the resultant metal oxide from the slurry to give an aqueous solution containing glyphosate.

Abstract: This invention relates to novel salts composed of a cation derived from a peptide containing at least one basic group and an anion derived from a carboxy-terminated polyester, processes for the manufacture of such salts, and the use of such salts in the manufacture of extended release pharmaceutical compositions. The salts of the invention possess a variety of properties which are useful in the formulation of extended release pharmaceutical compositions, whether the salts are in pure form or are in admixture with either an excess of the peptide in its free, unbound form or an excess of the free polyester.
Abstract: The invention provides a modified tubulin comprising a tubulin polypeptide which confers resistance to an anti-tubulin agent when expressed within a biological organism, said polypeptide having at least one amino acid substitution such that hydrophobicity is increased at one or more positions in the polypeptide. DNA sequences encoding such modified tubulins may be used to confer resistance on organisms which otherwise would be susceptible to one or more anti-tubulin agents. For example, a plant which is resistant to a herbicide that disrupts microtubule structure or function may be produced.
