  • Patent number: 10136318
Abstract: Steering an authentication request to a determined authentication device based on a correlation between a user equipment (UE) identity and an authentication device is disclosed. The authentication request comprises an updateable subscriber identity. The authentication request can be associated with the UE identity, which can be correlated to an authentication device as a result of a prior authentication event. The updateable subscriber identity can have been updated during the prior authentication event, such that the authentication device has record of the updated subscriber identity. Therefore, the authentication device can to perform an authentication based on the updated subscriber identity while other authentication devices lacking record of the updated subscriber identity would be unable to perform the authentication. The disclosed subject matter can be operable with existing deployed authentication systems with little to no modification of those systems.

  • Patent number: 10136380
Abstract: A mobile device that incorporates the subject disclosure may perform, for example, operations including requesting transport characteristics of a network coupled to a server and to the device according to a trajectory of the device. Data packets are transported to the mobile device according to a dynamic adaptive streaming over hypertext transfer protocol. The operations include obtaining the current transport characteristics of the network and predicting a future transport characteristic of the network, according to the trajectory of the device. A time is scheduled for sending a request to the server for transmission over the network of a data packet. The time can be scheduled according to the current and future transport characteristics of the network, to avoid degradation in quality of media content presented by the device. The data packet received responsive to sending the request is buffered for a future presentation of the media content. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10134273
Abstract: An ultrasonic source controlled by a controller to cause the ultrasonic source to emit one or more sound pulses in a direction of a surface in order to obtain one or more reflected sound pulses that are used to determine one or more properties of the surface. The ultrasonic source receives one or more control signals based on the one or more properties of the surface that are determined. Further, the ultrasonic source emits one or more ultrasonic sound waves in the direction of the surface based upon the one or more control signals. The one or more ultrasonic sound waves exert a force which causes visible particles within a region proximate the surface to move to achieve a desired appearance with respect to the surface.

  • Patent number: 10134290
Abstract: A system for providing drone piggybacking on vehicles is disclosed. In particular, the system may enable drones or other unmanned mobile connected devices to piggyback onto various types of hosts, such as vehicles, in a symbiotic fashion. Through the symbiotic relationship created between the drones and hosts, the drones may utilize the hosts as a means for transport, such as while delivering a good to an intended destination, and the hosts may receive certain incentives in exchange for transporting the drones. Drones may be paired with hosts based on any number of factors, such as whether the host is traveling on a route that corresponds with reaching the intended destination, whether the host is capable of recharging the drone, and whether the drone has sufficient power to reach the intended destination. By enabling drones to piggyback with hosts, the required traveling range for a drone may be reduced.

  • Patent number: 10135722
Abstract: An Ethernet Metropolitan Area Network provides connectivity to one or more customer premises to packet-bases services, such as ATM, Frame Relay, or IP while advantageously providing a mechanism for assuring security and regulation of customer traffic. Upon receipt of each customer-generated information frame, an ingress Multi-Service Platform (MSP) “tags” the frame with a customer descriptor that specifically identifies the recipient customer. In practice, the MSP tags each frame by overwriting the Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) identifier with the routing descriptor. Using the customer descriptor in each frame, a recipient Provider Edge Router (PER) or ATM switch can map the information as appropriate to direct the information to the specific customer. In addition, the customer descriptor may also include Quality of Service (QoS) allowing the recipient Provider Edge Router (PER) or ATM switch to vary the QoS level accordingly.

Abstract: Geographic proximity and network congestion are used to determine efficient routing of data in networks. If two devices are geographically close, then device-to-device communication may be possible. Data may thus be routed using device-to-device communication, which avoids consuming bandwidth in wide area networks and in cellular networks.

Abstract: A system for providing digital video recorder options for editing content is disclosed. In particular, the system may include receiving requests for a first version of media content and providing access to the first version of the media content. A user that accesses the first version of the media content may select a portion of the media content, and indicate whether, for example, the portion should be skipped, modified, or emphasized when the media content is accessed on a subsequent occasion. The system, based on the selection and indication, may edit the first version of the media content to create a second version of the media content. Abstract: A server that incorporates the subject disclosure may perform, for example, operations including monitoring current transport characteristics of an internet protocol network communicatively coupled to the server and to a mobile device. Data packets are transported to the device according to a dynamic adaptive streaming over hypertext transfer protocol. A future transport characteristic of the network is predicted according to the trajectory of the device. A request is received from the device for transmission of a data packet, and a time for fulfilling the request is scheduled according to the current and predicted transport characteristics. The operations further comprise selecting a transmission rate for transmission of the data packet to the mobile device responsive to detecting the time for fulfilling the request. The device performs buffering of the data packet for a future presentation of the media content. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to multiple feedback instance inter-coordination to determine optimal actions. According to one aspect, a system can receive a plurality of events associated with a group of feedback instances operating in a runtime. The system can examine the plurality of events to determine if a match exists between the plurality of events and an optimization plan. If so, the system can instruct a further system to realize the optimization plan. If not, the system can identify an extensibility of a feedback instance in the group of feedback instances. The extensibility can extend functionality of the feedback instance to provide additional information responsive to an event of the plurality of events. The system can update a feedback instance model associated with the feedback instance for which the extensibility was identified and can instruct the further system to extend the scope of the feedback instance.

Abstract: Context sensitive communication augmentation is disclosed. A user equipment (UE) can receive a trigger related to determining a context of a UE. The trigger can be manual, automatic, or remote. In response to receiving the trigger, the context of the UE can be determined based on sensor data. The sensor data can be received from a sensor of the UE or another sensor. Based on the context of the UE, a metric related to a communication modality of the UE can be determined. The metric can be communicated to another device. Information related to the context of the UE, including location information, can be communicated to the other device. A communication modality can be selected based on the metric relate to the UE and communication modalities of the other device. The metric can be updated based on changes in the context of the UE, allowing for updating the communication modality.
