  • Patent number: 9154406
Abstract: An edge router 12 sends a router advertisement to wireless terminals 11 to notify the wireless terminals 11 of the hop limit. Each wireless terminals 11 stores the notified hop limit in the hop limit field of an IPv6 packet. The edge router 12 stores the maximum number of hops in the user's home system 1 and the maximum number of hops in the IP network NW. When receiving a communication packet sent from the user's home system 1 to the IP network NW, the edge router 12 sets the hop limit in the communication packet to the maximum number of hops in the IP network NW. • Patent number: 8400961
Abstract: A wireless multimedia brokerage service supports sharing of real-time multimedia content whereby a mobile device user can perceive real-time content from a device in visual proximity, such as a nearby display device, and share the content of the display device with another mobile terminal user without the need to download or otherwise directly access the real-time content. The brokerage service can handle the transactional details of obtaining rights to the real-time content and also manage establishing and terminating a real-time multimedia session with the device(s) of the recipient user(s). In some embodiments, the wireless multimedia content brokerage service can proactively obtain subscriptions to content providers based on the location of one or more users. The brokerage service can also proactively obtain and buffer real-time content after receiving a request to share the content, with the buffering allowing for content to be preserved while the recipient user or users are contacted.

Abstract: A method of operation of a communication device. A first communication module is operatively coupled to a second communication module within the communication device. The second communication module is designed for carrier sensing. An instruction is communicated from the first communication module to the second communication module to begin sensing a channel on behalf of the first communication module. Next, the first communication module is informed of channel activity status by the second communication module. Thereafter, the first communication module transmits on the channel when no activity is detected on the channel.

  • Patent number: 8358643
Abstract: A communication method for reducing Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection setup time in an Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) includes the step of using an inclusive Signalling Radio Bearer (iSRB) in place of a plurality of individual Signalling Radio Bearers (indSRBs) for transferring signals from Radio Resource Control (RRC) to Medium Access Control (MAC). A Protocol Discriminator (PD) is added to the tail (right side) of each indSRB at the RRC for allowing the MAC to identify each indSRB as received in the iSRB. The PD is needed because the MAC would otherwise be unable to place each indSRB into the appropriate prioritizing queue for trans-mission to the physical layer. The PD is stripped off at the MAC. A preferred embodiment uses the iSRB in place of four individual indSRBs (SRB1, SRB2, SRB3 and SRB4), but in an alternative form the Unacknowledged Mode SRB (SRBI) would not be present in the system and therefore not included in the iSRB.

  • Patent number: 8331247
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for code channel allocation and related multiuser detection in a wireless communication system. The method for code channel allocation includes: establishing a relation between at least one channel estimation window and a channelization code, wherein the at least one channel estimation window corresponding to the channelization code includes the channel estimation windows corresponding to all the spread spectrum code branches of a node in which the channelization code exists; and performing code channel allocation according to the relation established. In the method for code channel allocation of the invention, there exists a one-to-many relation between the channelization code/channelization code number established and the at least one channel estimation window. Therefore, during the multiuser detection, the channelization code/channelization code number determined via the at least one channel estimation window activated is unique.
