  • Patent number: 8194674
Abstract: A gateway device including an access interface to an external network, a trunked interface, and translation logic. The access interface is associated with multiple external source addresses. The trunked interface is interfaced with multiple different virtual local area networks (VLANs), where each VLAN is associated with a corresponding VLAN tag and at least one of potentially overlapping internal source addresses. The translation logic translates between each external source address and each unique combination of internal source address and VLAN tag. A method of network address translation including assigning one of first network addresses to each first device of a first network, dividing the first network into a plurality of VLANs, separating the first devices with the same first network address into different VLANs, and assigning first devices with the same first address to different second network addresses.

  • Patent number: 8165034
Abstract: An improved technique provides location detection using wireless net-works such as Wi-Fi networks in a flexible, configurable manner that allows for variations in the environment and tracks target movement accurately in such an environment. Zones of different relative sizes and sensitivities can be defined, so as to vary the degree of resolution for different parts of the area being detected. Mechanisms are provided to take into account fluctuations in signal strength, and reduce the incidence of false positives resulting from incorrectly detecting zone or location changes due to fluctuations of signal strength. In addition, detection time can be configured for zone entry and/or exit. Self-adjustment based on heuristic analysis can also be implemented. Data can be sent or received based on the physical location as determined by the zone.

  • Patent number: 8160020
Abstract: In connection with a mobile wireless subnetwork having multiple radio network controllers and multiple radio nodes, a session established for an access terminal is associated with a serving radio network controller. The association is maintained as the access terminal moves from the coverage area of one radio node to the coverage area of another radio node within the same subnetwork. Access channel packets are routed from an access terminal having an existing session to the serving radio network controller by determining the IP address of the serving radio network controller using a session identifier.

  • Patent number: 8005079
Abstract: A network switching device includes a plurality of ports to receive data frames over a plurality of communication channels. The plurality of ports selectively store the data frames in blocks of a shared memory. A receiving port of the plurality of ports stores a first frame of the data frames in at least one block of the blocks. A forwarding module assigns the first frame to a transmitting port of the plurality of ports for transmission over the respective communication channel of the transmitting port. A counter module stores respective counts for the plurality of ports. The counter module increments the count for the receiving port after the forwarding module assigns the first frame to the transmitting port. The counter module decrements the count for the receiving port after the first frame is transmitted by the transmitting port. The plurality of ports respectively exercise flow control based on a pause threshold and the respective counts.

  • Patent number: 7983267
Abstract: A link aggregation function and maintenance function by MPLS OAM. Identical entry information is stored in plural circuits IF which perform a LA setting. In this way, multiplexing to the same LSP is possible even with different IF. The first network IF is assumed to be OAM ACT, and the second network IF is set to OAM SBY (SBY). OAM frame insertion is performed only by an OAM ACT port. In this way, in an opposite MPLS transmission apparatus, it is possible to prevent CV frame reception above a specified number of frames. Further, a switch forwarding table is set to forward frames from the network side to the first network IF of OAM ACT. The second network IF which was set to OAM SBY does not perform fault detection by CV reception. In this way, incorrect detection of faults due to non-reception of OAM can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 7974196
Abstract: Methods and systems for using counters to monitor port buffers are described. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving data packets into a system port buffer having different queues. Also, counters are associated with the queues. Further, the method includes scanning the counters, in which the counters count the number of dropped data packets associated with an individual queue of the different queues. Moreover, the method includes determining if the number of dropped data packets for an individual queue is greater than a predetermined number. If the number of dropped data packets is greater than the predetermined number, then a message is generated.

  • Patent number: 7969996
Abstract: The present invention provides a tunneling apparatus which can perform tunneling without requiring the network to be suspended or requiring the existing configuration of a local network to be modified. The frame sorting part 11 determines whether or not a frame input from a local network through a physical interface is an encapsulated tunnel frame. If such frame is a tunnel frame, the frame sorting part 11 outputs such frame to the decapsulation unit of the tunneling part 13. If such frame is not a tunnel frame, the frame sorting part 11 outputs such frame to at least one of the address resolution unit of the kernel part 12 and the encapsulation unit of the tunneling part, based on the characteristics of such frame.

  • Patent number: 7969875
Abstract: A media gateway (MG) and a packet filtering method thereof are provided to enhance the adaptability of the packet filtering mechanism on the MG. The packet filtering rule for a service instance may be changed dynamically, namely, the MG analyzes the currently transmitted packets of a service instance, obtains the state change of the instance, and then dynamically changes the packet filtering rule of the instance according to the state change of the instance. The present invention extends the property parameters of the H.248 protocol or MGCP protocol and adds a property parameter that indicates the dynamic packet filtering function is enabled or disabled and a property parameter that indicates the service type so that the MGC can enable or disable the packet filtering function for the instance of the specified service type flexibly according to the values of such parameters.

  • Patent number: 7929465
Abstract: A communications and database delivery service within an internetwork interacts with a service provider and its requestors/customers. A server is maintained for storing requester identifiers and service provider identifiers. A records database is maintained for storing records of digital information for customers of the service provider in accordance with the requester identifiers. An initiation message is received from a requestor over the internetwork. A notification is sent of a requested two-way video session to an IP address corresponding to the service provider. After an acceptance is received from the service provider, signals are provided over the internetwork to enable the two-way video session between respective workstations of the requestor and the service provider. A respective record is retrieved from the records database corresponding to the requester. The respective record is forwarded to the IP address corresponding to the service provider.

  • Patent number: 7924710
Abstract: A method for transmitting a payload encapsulated in a packet from a transmitter to a receiver by using an Automatic Request process, in which: the receiver checks each packet received from the transmitter to detect some potential corrupted received packets the receiver acknowledges the correct or the corrupted reception of each received packet by emitting one or many acknowledgment messages to the transmitter; the transmitter resends the packets that were indicated as corrupted in the received acknowledgment messages. For at least some packets, the transmitter implements an EC-PartARQ error control mechanism including the steps of: defining a sensitive part and a non-sensitive part in the transmitted packet; checking only the sensitive parts in the packets to detect any potential corrupted received packet, a packet being considered as corrupted if the sensitive part has not been correctly received.
