  • Patent number: 9049114
Abstract: A network access device (NAD) is configured to automatically establish a connection to a WAN. The NAD tests IP configurations according to a first priority scheme at least until a currently best scoring one of the IP configurations is selected for use to communicate over the WAN. The testing of the IP configurations includes transmitting requests according to a first priority scheme and tracking any replies reflecting which IP configurations are valid. The first priority scheme is for selecting among IP configurations for testing and prioritizing a first type of IP configuration over a dynamically determined type of IP configuration. Which IP configurations of the dynamically determined type that are to be tested are determined by attempting to obtain DHCP leases using different VLAN IDs according to a second priority scheme of VLAN IDs to include in DHCP requests.

  • Patent number: 9049254
Abstract: The present invention discloses a control method, an apparatus, and a system. In the embodiments of the present invention, a control command is encapsulated into a network data packet to be sent to a remote network driver interface specification (RNDIS) device, and the encapsulated network data packet is sent to the RNDIS device to control the RNDIS device. In the conventional network architecture, a user device can directly send a network data packet to an RNDIS device. Therefore, with this solution, a control command can be transmitted to the RNDIS device without adding a new control interface. Compared with the solution that requires adding a new interface and installing an additional driver program in the prior art, this solution reduces application complexity and has no special requirement for the RNDIS device, which is commonly applicable and easy to implement.

  • Patent number: 9025581
Abstract: A controller directing access points to default to a virtual cell service mode which allows seamless mobility for stations in motion around a wireless network is disclosed. Responsive to identifying a first station, the controller logic may dictate tighter controls for the first station by selecting a virtual port service mode. Some embodiments can also select a native cell service mode for devices due to a connection history of the station or a MAC OUI that is incompatible with virtual cell service mode. An initial service mode can be changed due to a condition. Also, the controller provides multiple BSSIDs to each access point.

  • Patent number: 9014095
Abstract: A method for achieving energy-saving in a mobile communication system base station, for application in an LTE system, comprising: determining the average value of a downlink sub-frame traffic load; determining, when the average value of the downlink sub-frame traffic load is below a threshold value therefore, an MBSFN downlink sub-frame which is not carrying multicast traffic; and closing the radio frequency channel corresponding to the multicast symbol in the MBSFN downlink sub-frame which is not carrying multicast traffic. By using the method, the number of downlink sub-frames required to meet the communication traffic needs of a current cell is judged according to changes in the traffic load observed by measuring the traffic load values in that cell; sub-frames which can be closed are set as MBSFN downlink sub-frames which do not send multicast traffic; radio frequency channels occupied by the multicast symbol are closed, thereby reducing energy consumption.

  • Patent number: 9001735
Abstract: In a data communication system capable of variable rate transmission, high rate packet data transmission improves utilization of the forward link and decreases the transmission delay. Data transmission on the forward link is time multiplexed and the base station transmits at the highest data rate supported by the forward link at each time slot to one mobile station. The data rate is determined by the largest C/I measurement of the forward link signals as measured at the mobile station. Upon determination of a data packet received in error, the mobile station transmits a NACK message back to the base station. The NACK message results in retransmission of the data packet received in error. The data packets can be transmitted out of sequence by the use of sequence number to identify each data unit within the data packets.

Abstract: Respective distances between a communication device and a plurality of wireless local area network (WLAN) access points are determined. One of the plurality of WLAN access points with which the communication device is to associate is selected based on the determined distances. A background scanning process is initiated based on determined distances. The background scanning process includes at least selecting one of the plurality of WLAN access points with which the communication device is to associate based on the determined respective distances by evaluating the plurality of WLAN access points in an order based on the determined respective distances.
