Patent number: 8717919Abstract: Space-time solutions are determined by exchanging pings among nodes in a network. Each ping includes a current space-time state of the transmitting node, which includes the transmitting node's currently estimated location and corrected time (as a count stamp). A particular node in the network receives pings from the other nodes in the network and uses the data in the received pings to estimate its own current position and to correct its own free-running clock relative to a common system time. As a service to the network, the particular node then transmits its corrected time (as a count stamp) and estimated position to the other nodes. In some embodiments, the space-time solutions discussed herein are used as backup to other navigation systems, such as the Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) system.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2011Date of Patent: May 6, 2014Assignee: Digimarc CorporationInventors: Geoffrey Rhoads, Harrison Freer, Hugh L. Patent number: 8699410Abstract: Techniques for sharing routing information over a network include determining whether the scale of a flooding domain exceeds a threshold. If so, then a router announcement message is sent over a particular link. The message indicates the local router is a flooding domain border router (FDBR). Summary routing information is determined with less than a certain level of detail used in the flooding domain for routers connected to the local router through links different from the particular link. The summary routing information is sent over the particular link in a link state message that includes type data that indicates summary routing information that crosses a FDBR. These techniques allow automatic favorable scaling of domains of shared routing information as the size of a mobile ad hoc network grows.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2009Date of Patent: April 15, 2014Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Alvaro Retana, Russell White

Patent number: 8611374Abstract: The present invention relates to a protocol data unit (PDU) reordering method in a wireless communication system. The terminal maintains the number of bytes of PDUs stored in the buffer for reordering PDUs received in a sequence that is changed due to HARQ error correction to thereby prevent overflow of the reordering buffer. When the HARQ function unit transmits a PDU received at the radio access control RAS (S101), the PDU reordering unit of the access terminal sets a current frame number as an arrival frame number of the received PDU (S102). When a current frame number is stored as an arrival frame number of a received frame, the PDU reordering unit compares a sequence number (SN) of a received PDU with a sequence number of a PDU that is about to be reordered (S 103). If the PDU has already been reordered, the received PDU is discarded (S 104).Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2009Date of Patent: December 17, 2013Assignees: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., Electronics and Telecommunications Research InstituteInventors: Nak Woon Sung, Kyung Soo Kim
