  • Patent number: 9946330
Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes transmitting-receiving units, response processing units, and a switching unit. The transmitting-receiving units transmit data to and receive data from networks. An operation state of each of the response processing units is able to be switched between a first state and a second state. The switching unit performs switching between the first state and the second state of each of the response processing units. The transmitting-receiving units and the response processing units are provided for plural respective networks. In a case where all the response processing units are in the second state, the switching unit switches, among all the response processing units, an operation state of a response processing unit that has received predetermined data from the second state to the first state.

  • Patent number: 9928115
Abstract: In an embodiment, an integrated circuit may include one or more processors. Each processor may include multiple processor cores, and each core has a different design/implementation and performance level. The processor may support multiple processor states (PStates). Each PState may specify an operating point (e.g. a combination of supply voltage magnitude and clock frequency), and each PState may be mapped to one of the processor cores. During operation, one of the cores is active: the core to which the current PState is mapped. If a new PState is selected and is mapped to a different core, the processor may automatically context switch the processor state to the newly-selected core and may begin execution on that core. The context switch may be performed using a special purpose register (SPR) interconnect. Each processor core in a given processor may be coupled to the SPR interconnect to permit access to the external SPRs.

  • Patent number: 9880856
Abstract: The present disclosure describes apparatuses and techniques for patching boot code of read-only memory (ROM). In some aspects, execution of boot code from a ROM is initiated to start a boot process of a device. Execution of the boot code from the ROM is then interrupted to enable execution of other boot code, such as corrected boot code or additional boot code, from another memory. Once the other boot code is executed, execution of the boot code from the ROM is resumed to continue booting the computing device. By so doing, the corrected boot code or additional boot code can be executed during the boot process effective to patch the boot code stored in the ROM.

  • Patent number: 9874930
Abstract: Embodiments described herein include a Power over Ethernet (PoE) enabled device that uses 2-event classification when allocating power to coupled powered devices (PDs). If the 2-event classification is successful, power sourcing equipment (PSE) on the PoE device allocates a maximum power allotment to the PD. Once powered on, the PD may determine it does not require the maximum power allotment and negotiate a reduction in the power allotted to the PD.

  • Patent number: 9823646
Abstract: A method generates an asynchronous trigger signal in a position-measuring device having a position-sensing unit, a processing unit and an interface unit. The position-measuring device is connectable via the interface unit and a bidirectional data channel to subsequent electronics for communication purposes. A synchronous data stream is generated from an asynchronous data stream arriving at the position-measuring device from a direction of the subsequent electronics by sampling the asynchronous data stream in a time pattern of a clock signal. A gate signal is generated upon an enable condition for outputting the trigger signal being detected by evaluating the synchronous data stream. The asynchronous trigger signal is generated upon the gate signal being present and a signal edge of the asynchronous data stream occurring.

  • Patent number: 9804664
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for power conservation in a wireless communications system. In embodiments, power conservation may be achieved by adaptively controlling power modes of a wireless communication device, using a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) value as a factor for guidance. According to one aspect, the device may be in a reception mode. While in a first power mode, the device may receive control information for incoming data that is being transmitted via a transmission frame. The control information may be located in a first portion of the frame with the data following in a second portion of the frame. The control information may include or otherwise indicate an MCS value corresponding to the MCS applied to the incoming data. Based on the MCS value, the device may be adaptively switched to a second power mode for receiving the incoming data.

  • Patent number: 9781673
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for power conservation in a wireless communications system. In embodiments, power conservation may be achieved by adaptively controlling power modes of a wireless communication device, and implementing lower power modes with various modes of the device. According to one aspect, the mode of the device may be a beacon monitoring mode or a delivery traffic indication message (DTIM) mode. In such a mode, the device may receive a portion of a beacon in a first power mode. • Patent number: 9727109
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide systems and/or methods for managing power distribution over a USB topology. In some embodiments, a host device is coupled to an upstream facing port device (UFP device) via a USB compliant connection, and a USB device is coupled to a downstream facing port device (DFP device) via a USB compliant connection. The UFP device and DFP device are connected via a non-USB compliant extension medium. In various embodiments, the UFP device and DFP device may be individually powered by different types of sources (such as external power sources, power distributed over the extension medium, batteries, USB bus power, and/or the like). The UFP device and DFP device cooperate to provide USB power distribution functionality throughout the USB topology despite the presence of the non-USB compliant extension medium.

  • Patent number: 9720489
Abstract: The invention relates to a system comprising a main electrical unit (2) and a peripheral electrical unit (3, 4,5), wherein the main electrical unit and the peripheral electrical unit are switchable between a low-power mode and a high-power mode. The main electrical unit is adapted to hand over a control of the system to the peripheral electrical unit, if the peripheral electrical unit is in the high-power mode, and to switch from the high-power mode to the low-power mode, after the control has been handed over. The peripheral electrical unit is adapted to receive the control from the main electrical unit and to control the system, if the peripheral electrical unit is in the high-power mode. This allows the system to be still in operation mode, although the main electrical unit has been switched to the low-power mode, thereby reducing the power consumption of the system.
