Patent number: 11717740Abstract: The present disclosure comprises a novel system that attaches to skis in an alpine touring setup and provides electric, battery powered, motorized traction that assists the skier when traveling uphill or horizontal on snow. In one embodiment, the devices removably attach to the ski near the tail and have a cylindrical traction surface that sits below the ski near the tail. The traction surface is powered by an electric hub motor which engages, either with initiation of forward movement, input from sensors, or a set programmed cadence, thereby assisting the user's moving, unweighted ski forward until the completion of that step. Once arrived at the desired destination, or when downhill travel is warranted, the user removes and stores the devices from each ski and proceeds downhill.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 2021Date of Patent: August 8, 2023Inventors: Robert Ray Blocker, Raelene Ehlers Blocker, Weston Robert Blocker, Zachary Richard Blocker, Tyler Joseph Blocker

Patent number: 11701573Abstract: A rotation powered vehicle drive mechanism includes an elongated chassis slot disposed within a respective lateral exterior portion of a chassis assembly. An elongated platform slot is disposed within a respective lateral portion of a platform assembly, and is configured such that it is substantially opposed to the chassis slot. The platform assembly is pivotally secured to the chassis assembly thereby allowing for rotation through a platform rotation angle of the platform assembly with respect to the chassis assembly about a rotation axis. The rotation of the platform assembly results in an increase or decrease of a variable slot height which is measured between the chassis slot and the platform slot. A cart assembly is disposed between the chassis assembly and the platform assembly, and is operatively coupled to the chassis slot and to the platform slot.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2021Date of Patent: July 18, 2023Inventors: Steven Craig Anderson, Phillip R. Patent number: 11691068Abstract: The presently disclosed subject matter is directed to a pair of skis that exhibit increased speed compared to prior art skis. Specifically, each ski exhibits a reduced projected frontal area to decrease drag force (and thereby increase speed). Each ski includes a plurality of parallel air tunnels that run along the length of the ski from the front end to the rear end. The tunnels enable a significant portion of the air that contacts the front end of the skis to simply pass through the skis. In this way, the projected frontal area of the skis is considerably reduced compared to conventional solid skis. As a result, the ski exhibits increased speed based on the decrease in drag force compared to prior art skis.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 2022Date of Patent: July 4, 2023Inventor: Amjad Munim

Patent number: 11617937Abstract: A steering system for a snowboard includes two binding interface pods, one of which may be active and one of which may be passive. Rotation or tilting of a top plate of the active binding interface pod in response to rotation or tilting of the rider's steering foot causes counter-rotation of a steering fin under the rider's steering foot. The passive binding interface pod is responsive via a linkage between the active and passive binding interface pods to cause rotation of a steering fin under the rider's non-steering foot. Coordinated counter-rotation of the steering fins causes the board to turn in the direction of rotation of the rider's steering foot when the steering fins are unaligned. Optionally, both binding pods may be active in steering, i.e. enabling two footed steering.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2020Date of Patent: April 4, 2023Inventor: Brian Carr
