Patent number: 7233477Abstract: In a portable data erasing device, to prevent data leaks from magnetic disk devices to be disposed, data is erased by a simple operation. The data erasing device using a magnetic field generated by permanent magnets to erase data comprises a sliding tray, a main body and a swinging tray. The sliding tray is movable into and out from the main body, two permanent magnets, adjacently arranged so that the north and south poles thereof have mutually attracting polarities, are attached to the front end of the sliding tray. One end of the swinging tray is fixed to the upper surface of the main body by a shaft, so that a magnetic disk device can be mounted and swung on top of the main body. While the sliding tray is extracted stepwise from the main body, the magnetic disk device can be swung, and data on the magnetic disks erased.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2003Date of Patent: June 19, 2007Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Hiroshi Hasegawa, Hisato Suzuki, Hiroyuki Uematsu

Patent number: 7230812Abstract: It is possible to predict with acceptable accuracy the time to failure of a device having a thin gate dielectric in a field effect transistor. Such prediction is based on the realization that for such thin dielectric multiple dielectric breakdown occurs before device failure ensues and that measurement of the device quiescent current flow provides the information necessary for such prediction. The ability to make reliable prediction allows improvement of device design, manufacture, and use.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2004Date of Patent: June 12, 2007Assignee: Agere Systems IncInventors: Muhammad Ashraful Alam, Philip W. Patent number: 7224084Abstract: When an AC adaptor is removed and a power supply to a power node NP of a ROM writing apparatus is stopped, an analog switch which is controlled by a voltage at the power node NP is turned off. Thus, even if a power voltage VTG of a user board side is applied, a data signal DAT which is outputted from the user board is shut off by the analog switch and does not reach the power node NP via a diode. Therefore, a control terminal of a 3-state buffer is certainly set to “L”. There is not a risk such that a pass current flows in the 3-state buffer and a breakdown by heat is caused. When a power source is shut off, a breakdown of an interface circuit due to a wraparound of a power voltage from another apparatus is prevented.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 2003Date of Patent: May 29, 2007Assignee: Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd.Inventor: Manabu Minowa

Patent number: 7224560Abstract: A protection for ICs against ESD transients includes a circuit with a master circuit driving a slave circuit. The master circuit responds to ESD voltage V(t). The slave circuit comprises parallel shunt devices having common inputs. The output of the master circuit is coupled to the common inputs. As V(t) increases the master circuit applies a portion of V(t) to the input of the slave circuit shunt devices. The threshold voltage Vt1 at which the slave circuit shunt devices would otherwise turn on to a lower value Vt1? closer to the holding voltage Vh of the shunt devices. All of the slave circuit devices turn on substantially simultaneously at about Vt1? close to Vh, thereby shunting the ESD transient to ground at a lower value of V(t). The master and slave circuits are inactive during normal IC operation.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2003Date of Patent: May 29, 2007Assignee: Medtronic, Inc.Inventors: James T. May, Larry E. Tyler

Patent number: 7218016Abstract: A device for generating an intense radio frequency pulse through use of a helical Magneto-Cumulative Generator (MCG). The MCG provides a chemical explosion and acts as a converter to transform the chemical/mechanical energy into an electrical energy impulse. Due to the detonation/combustion process, a vortex wake is produced which assumes the role of a quarter-wave trap/antenna. If the MCG is in high velocity flight, a bow-shaped shockwave, followed by a second shock front, is established around the head of the MCG, becoming a second antenna. Without flight, two MCG's are placed head-to-head so that the vortex wakes emit in opposite directions. Since the explosion destroys the MCG, a model is created to perform multiple tests of the ability of an MCG to act as an RF device.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2003Date of Patent: May 15, 2007Inventors: Mladen Marko Kekez, Daniel David Kekez
