  • Patent number: 4827819
Abstract: A radial arm saw includes a saw assembly pivotally mounted to a support unit which, in turn, is mounted to a wall or other support structure. The saw assembly includes a column that is connectable at one end to a saw table frame or the support unit so as to be affixed in upright operative position during operation and disposed during non-operation in a lateral, storage position. A radial arm and saw unit are supported from the other end of the column. Preferably, the column is pivotal between a lateral stored position and an upright operative position. Also, the saw assembly is pivotal relative to the support unit between a vertical stored position and a horizontal operative position. A leg locking sleeve may be released to deploy the saw assembly from its stored position into its operative position. The support column may be detachable to shift the radial arm saw between operative and stored positions.

  • Patent number: 4826062
Abstract: An agricultural marking device to disperse elongate strips of rolled paper-web material. A vertically orientated, cylindrical supply hopper has a securable lid. The lower portion of the hopper terminates in a conical transition directing web material in the hopper to an output channel. Drive rollers positioned adjacent to the output channel remove the web material from the supply hopper and deliver it through a downstream opening where a spray head is positioned. The spray head controllably directs a liquid spray onto the web material to separate it in the wetted region or dampen it to weight it. The device is secured to a mounting structure for mounting onto preselected portions of a propelling vehicle or an associated material dispensing device to thereby indicate a boundary of a portion of a traversed field by the web material deposited thereon.

  • Patent number: 4826063
Abstract: A roll holder for holding and dispensing a roll of paper such as toilet paper. A paper roll is mounted so that its end will come out from behind. The paper can be easily pulled out downwardly. After a desired length has been pulled out, the paper is pulled forwardly. A working plate is pivoted under tension of the paper so that the paper will be pressed and braked between the working plate and a braking member of a resilient material. Simultaneously, a cutter coupled with the working plate will project out of the body so that the paper can be cut cleanly with a single hand.

  • Patent number: 4823659
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting tool and a tool holder for cutting panels from blanks of sheet-like material. The cutting tool comprises a thin cutting plate on which is formed by etching a cutting edge having a contour corresponding to the outline of the panels to be cut out. The cutting plate also comprises a plurality of openings which are surrounded by the cutting edge. The tool holder is a metallic cylinder to be mounted on the drive shaft of a conventional panel cutting apparatus and comprises a seat for receiving the cutting plate which is retained in the seat by keys. In the cylinder are formed passageways communicating with a source of vacuum and also communicating with the openings on the cutting plate to create a zone of vacuum in the vicinity of the cutting edge.

  • Patent number: 4823660
Abstract: A device and method for cutting labels from a strip of heat meltable material comprises a frame, a die plate mounted for resilient movement on the frame and a punch mounted for movement toward and away from the die plate. The punch carries a cutting edge which cooperates with a die surface of the die plate to cut a label. A reciprocating device includes a spring loaded plunger which moves the die plate with its cutting edge into contact with the die surface of the die plate. The die plate is spring mounted to the frame so that excess movement of the punch toward the die plate is absorbed by the springs of the die plate. Any additional excess movement is absorbed by the spring loaded plunger. The die plate may also be provided with a hole conforming substantially to the outer contour of the label. The edge follows the contour of the hole but it is dimensioned slightly larger than the hole so that a margin of die surface remains around the hole against which the cutting edge operates.

  • Patent number: 4819530
Abstract: An automatic or semiautomatic apparatus cuts off the ends of preassembled standard venetian blinds to provide custom-size blinds for windows that are not modern standard sizes. An automated process is used to cut preassembled blinds to provide custom-size blinds for such windows. The apparatus preferably includes twin cutters arranged to trim both ends of a slat simultaneously, and is shaped, sized and configured to do so while the slat remains preassembled in a blind. The apparatus also preferably includes a vertical bed for suspending a blind in an opened and generally taut condition--and a mechanism for moving the cutter vertically along the bed to cut each slat in turn. Preferably the apparatus automatically registers the cutter with each slat and interrupts the cutting sequence after the last slat is cut. Optical sensing is preferably used to obtain the automatic registration.

  • Patent number: 4817581
Abstract: A cutting tool such as a tile saw is pivotally connected to a linear guide rod with a four-bar linkage. The linkage allows the cutting tool to be raised and lowered over a work table to facilitate plunge cutting. One link of the four-bar linkage is mounted over the linear guide rod in a fixed perpendicular relationship with the surface of the work table to ensure that the blade of the cutting tool is maintained in a similar perpendicular orientation throughout plunge cutting. This is achieved by adjusting the links of the four-bar linkage as a parallelogram linkage. A linear bearing is fitted between the fixed perpendicular link and the guide rod to allow the cutting tool and linkage to freely slide along an accurate linear cutting path.

  • Patent number: 4817479
Abstract: Slicing apparatus particularly adapted for slicing raw and cooked meat includes a feed tube through which chunks of raw or cooked meat are fed under pressure against an immediately adjacent cutter which includes at least one cutting edge and forms a stop for the material in the feed tube in substantially all positions of the cutter to prevent free flow of material from the tube. The process for producing a sliced meat product includes the steps of partially cooking chunks of meat so that outside portions of the chunks reach temperatures above the temperature at which the meat is considered fully cooked while inside portions remain not fully cooked, slicing the meat chunks and adding to the slices sauce which is at a temperature above the temperature at which the meat is considered fully cooked, allowing the temperature of the meat and sauce to equalize at least to the extent that all meat reaches the temperature at which it is considered fully cooked, and portioning and packaging the product.

  • Patent number: 4817245
Abstract: The present invention provides a meat saw for simultaneously making multiple cuts in a piece of meat and a process for cutting a piece of meat. The meat saw includes a base and a saw table supported by the base. The saw table is adapted to support the piece of meat to be sawn and contains a plurality of elongated, generally parallel apertures. A restraining member holds the piece of meat against the saw table. The meat saw further includes a plurality of spaced rotary saw blades mounted on a common rotatable shaft, the shaft being located beneath the saw table. The shaft is movably mounted on the base so that the position of the shaft relative to the saw table is continuously adjustable. The position of the shaft can be adjusted from a lower position, in which the blades do not extend above the saw table, to an upper position in which the blades extend through the apertures in the saw table and above the saw table.

  • Patent number: 4815351
Abstract: The present invention provides novel apparatus for punching or drilling of a plurality of elongate, slanting bores or holes in a substantially solid slab made of a relatively rigid, penetrable material such as plastic. The apparatus comprises a punching or drilling chamber having a substantially planar top wall. A series of spikes angle downwardly and at an angle from the top wall. A feed end allows slabs of material to be fed into the punching chamber onto a planar support bed, where the slab is secured from further movement relative to the support bed. The support bed is movable in reciprocating motion upward and downward in the punching chamber in a direction parallel with the longitudinal axes of the spikes which extend downwardly from the top wall of the chamber. During the upward motion, the slab of material is forced into the spikes which pierce the slab and forms the elongated bores or holes therein. In the downward cycle, the spikes are withdrawn from the slab of material.
